I Don't Care How She Does It

Another formulaic, rom com, chick flick to appeal to the ladyfolk. If Sarah Jessica Parker's in it, it will be bad. Guaranteed. And now I KNOW someone will respond, "How can say that? It's not even out yet. Don't judge, yadda, yadda," but the truth is, the woman hasn't made a different, or even GOOD, movie in the last twenty years.

I was thinking more of a elongated rat... but horse works!

There's a reason why it's only going to pull in $5 million

She has made a couple of noteworthy ones (The Family Stone and Honeymoon in Vegas, for example) and nothing is wrong with frothy chick flicks. Her movies make me feel good when I exit the cinema. Plus, when I want thoughtful or dramtic movies I go see a Clint Eastwood directed movie. Sara fills a spot, she's entertaining so please don't take it so seriously!

BTW - To those other critics -
she does look like a horse but it's good to see a horse faced funny lady too. Not all stars should be drop dead beautiful.

I think SJP is a decent actress. The expectations for her are now huge because of SATC. Prior to that she was pretty much a supporting actress in most roles and she was very good at it. The best thing that could happen to her is that she is again offered supporting roles. She should also consider going back to her roots in theater. Unfortunately, her agent/manager has made her overexposed in recent years and she's now experiencing the backlash of it.

That being said, I don't think this movie was awful. I think the timing of the release was bad since most working mothers probably took their kids to see "The Lion King" instead of a chick movie. Otherwise I think the box office would have been much better.

Pardon my french, but the whole plot is just feminist wanking material.
Of *course* her husband is a loser, and of *course* she's great at her job and then choosing family in the end. Oh, the (predictable) drama.
It's just exactly delivering what self-proclaimed emancipated women want to see: Protagonist is a heroine, men are losers ... i see a pattern in the roles SJP gets.
SJP reminds me: I am often complaining about Hollywood actors not being authentic, but just plain, dull and pretty. But it doesn't get better when skipping the 'pretty'.

twh-fuchs, couldn't agree more. I was pixxed off when I read on the dvd cover ..."If it was easy men would do it." Yes, I find that offensive.

Imagine the response if it read "If it made sense to do it men would do it."

ever since sex and the city 2 its clear she has lost all ability to judge script quality, or simply needs the money.

+1
It should be called "Greedy B1tch" for the finance part of it - easy, shiny taking a p1ss so easily (not so in real life)
and I hate her horse face in these rom coms (it's not even that), glad someone is to replace that old woman (Sex in the City character), look at her hands in this movie - it's awesome!

Make a snowman? WTF?!

Agreed.

I don't know how anyone could be attracted to this anorexic creature.

I don't know how I didn't vomit.

I don't know how we're expected to believe Pierce would be interested in her.

I don't know how this movie makes real women look like idiots - never mind, no real women in this movie.
