I Don't Care How She Does It

Another formulaic, rom com, chick flick to appeal to the ladyfolk. If Sarah Jessica Parker's in it, it will be bad. Guaranteed. And now I KNOW someone will respond, "How can say that? It's not even out yet. Don't judge, yadda, yadda," but the truth is, the woman hasn't made a different, or even GOOD, movie in the last twenty years.

Lol best thread title so far

I won't bother to get it on Netflix either.

It is Aug 1, 2011 and I have not seen this movie at any of our theaters.

I agree about SJP. If she is in it, it won't be good. Why? Because she is like Jennifer Aniston, always in a chick flick.

I think those ought to be banned in Hollywood.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say perhaps the reason you haven't seen it yet is because it's not out in theaters yet. Just a guess.

I don't find either of them attractive. However SJP is, at least, likeable... bordering on adorable. Jennifer Aniston is an evil harpy with a farbissina punim. Every time I see her, I want to slap the taste out of her mouth.

A nice, likable horse .... so what? What does that have to do with anything. Barbra Streisand is a typical example, huge nose, airport runway forehead, wrecked lips and hair that hangs like spaghetti, but she is beautiful.

Agree with SJP but don't think you should class her with Jennifer Aniston. Aniston has done lots of good movies in her career and deserves recognition.

Wow. Way harsh, man. SJP found a good character with her Carrie Bradshaw role (in Sex and the City); when she plays Carrie, as she does essentially in this film, she's great. I enjoyed it because I love the Carrie character!

I don't think Derailed is a chick flick and Aniston was good in it. Besides, the market demands different genres and romantic comedies sell good, so you have to have actors and actresses to pull them through. It's not so easy, while there are some who can do a variety of genres (like Nicole Kidman), there are others who just can't seem to get a romantic comedy done (I'm thinking Anna Faris). And Hollywood needs its Kate Hudsons and Meg Ryans to produce this kind of movies.

i wish i had read this thread before i got this abysmal movie on netflix so i could've done something more worthwhile like scrub the toilet or something.

two reasons i watched the whole thing--greg kinnear and kelsey grammar. i'm not even sure in retrospect they were worth it.

reply

I don't care for SJP but The Family Stone was a nice departure from the other characters she played and the movie was pretty good (of course, not solely because of her because it's an ensamble)

Have YOU seen it?

Exactly.

You think the film's going to be bad? Read the book. The film could be ten times better than its source material and it would still be complete and utter dross. I generally try not to criticise a film before I've seen it, but when you're working with a story/premise as dire as this one...

I happen to love SJP - on TV - not on the big screen. Some actors just do better in one or the other medium and she just has never been able to carry a feature film. But somehow she continues to get the parts. I think they bank on the fact that she does have a huge female following, but I don't think it will be enough to make this one a box office success. They've paired her with multiple leading men and it still hasn't worked. But I will get it when it comes out on DVD and is on the movie channels because again, she lights up the small screen!

Looks like an absolute sht house movie. Hollywood pumping out a lot of these awful rom com lately. All end the same, boring, unoriginal and enjoyed by idiots.

My thoughts exactly.. I don't care how she does it... or even IF she does it...now, if Hendricks(Christina) was the main character, we'd have something to to rally the troops around.. JMHO~AS ALWAYS. =)

I have read the book-my mum owns it and it's suprisingly funny. Don't think I care for the movie because SJP is in it, but unless it's a big departure from the book it won't be a romantic comedy because it's about a woman who's already married.

I'm a mother of three, working two jobs.... do I get my own movie?

i don't know who is talking in the title. i think it is a strange phrasing. i think the movie will be just as muddled. i don't know why i know this. i just do.
