I just watched the trailer and it occurs to me that nearly the entire cast (with the exception of Aubrey Plaza & Kate Mara)seem to old to play characters that are just 10 years out of high school.
This is my 10 year high school graduation anniversary. I just turned 28. Most of the cast of this movie are "significantly" older than that. It's like they couldn't find any younger actors, or something.....
Think of the characters that these actors were playing 10 years ago. Justin Long was in DodgeBall, Chris Pratt in Strangers with Candy, Rosario was in 25th hour where she played the girlfriend of Ed Norton BUT she was supposed to be substantially younger than him, Anthony Mackie was in 8 Mile, Channing Tatum was in Coach Carter, and Ari Grayson was in Mystic River.
If you think about it, if all of these actors were playing high school kids, or young adults who were a couple years out of high school 10 years ago... why can't they play characters coming to they're 10 year reunion.
Not to be rude here, but why are you surprised by this? If actors are still playing teenagers throughout their 20s, how is it a stretch for actors in their early 30s to play late 20s? I'm pretty sure a 28 year old and a 32 year old have a lot more in common than a 17 year old and a 25 year old do. The age difference seems trite in this case.
There are few things as fetching as a bruised ego on a beautiful angel.
It's important to remember that this movie was filmed two years ago, so the cast was 2 years younger than their current age. They are expected to be playing characters age 27-29, and looking at their ages they seem to only be a couples years off, which is very common in the film industry. If the look much older than they should be than that is because they just happen to look much older because they really only were a few years older, if that. The age of the cast while filming was: Channing Tatum- 30 Justin Long- 32 Kate Mara- 27 Chris Pratt- 31 Scott Porter- 31 Anthony Mackie-32 Rosario Dawson -31 Oscar Isaac- 30 Lynn Collins-33 Max Minghella-25 Jenna Dewan -29
All was well- 15 July 2011 But there are much worse games to play 23/03/12
I agree. Although I did not see the movie, just the trailer alone, it felt very distracting, and it also felt like a copycat American pie reunion. The only actor played in this film that was at of around his "real reunion" time was Max Minghella. Then again, there is the opposite of adults playing teenagers, very young [emphasis added] teenage characters, such as Andrew Garfield (believe he was 28 at the time) in "The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)". Interestingly, both Garfield (1983) and Minghella (1985) were in previous film prior to "10 Tens" in "The Social Network (2010). Though in that film, the actors were all appropriately aged giving the college period of the time. So, it really does have an effect, and impact on the film. Sadly, they may just have done this to get attention for a poorly - for what it seems - made film and, sadly, unfortunately, to the producers, it did not work.
A lot of people look older than they really are or younger than they are. I'm 28, but people guess I'm in my early thirties. My older brother by four years, looks like he's 19. The other one older by three years, looks more like the older one of all of us. A guy I went to school with still looks exactly like he did in high school. And others look so much older than we all do. A lot of it has to do with how they act also. Some people seem older because they act more mature. When I was 23 my friend was only 26 but she seemed much older because she had a husband and 2 kids, with their own house and cars. And she thought I was younger because I was still living at home and going out and partying after work alot. So it doesn't really mean anything.
Did you not read the post where they listed what the ages of the actors were at the time they filmed this? The oldest was 33. Are you guys seriously trying to say that there's a big difference between what someone is like at 28 vs. what they're like at 32 or 33? There isn't.
