They Keep Getting Worse

First was spectacular. Second was average. This was below average. Only cool part was finding out…spoilers….

Fanning’s character was his CIA friends daughter.

I don’t really understand the point behind him making some village in Italy his home in his twilight years. Seemed random.

reply

Just watched this myself and it’s definitely the worst of the three films.

I don’t mind movies that take their time but this one never really got going and it really lacked action and suspense. Just couldn’t get invested in this one at all despite Denzel’s performance and the new setting, it really was a bit of a chore to get through.

reply

Exactly how I felt. Slow. Dark. Just weird production.

reply

Of course. Denzel is 70, he’s not going to want to lay waste to roomfuls of beefy young bad guys, and even if he wanted to he’d look ridiculous doing it.

Tbh the Equalizer films have always been light on action with a lot of drawn out ‘drama’.

I love Denzel and I like the series but there’s a limit to how excited I can get about a septuagenarian action hero.

reply

This was easily better than Part 2 which was a huge pile of crap. The entire middle of that movie is Denzel teaching that thug to not sag his pants with zero payoff at the end. Real talk

reply

We thought it better than 2nd and enjoyed it.

reply

Damn, not sure I wan't to see it anymore if it's worse than the second one.

I might still give it a chance.

reply

Well, for what it is worth, I liked it better than the second one.

reply

Good to know. I hated part 2.

reply

*** SPOILER ****

It wasn't his intention to move to Italy, and it wasn't random. He first went there on a mission to recover the money stolen from the guy back in Boston who appears in the end. After he was shot, he was helped by that village's doctor and policeman, and stayed there while recovering. Then he became friends with many of the inhabitants, which made him feel like staying.

reply

Fair. Was kinda hoping they’d wrap this up with him returning to Boston. His home. Maybe to the cafe on the corner. Maybe a cup of coffee with Sophie Moretz character. Tie a bow on it.

reply

Sophie? don't you mean Chloë Grace?

reply

Love Sicily don't blame him

reply

Ya, shoulda stopped with the first one. It was pretty fantastic.

The second one was disappointing as hell. The trailer for this one did nothing for me

reply

I liked this much better than 2.

reply

Agreed. It’s pretty boring.

reply

So what you're implying is, is that not every successful movie needs a sequel or franchise, right??

reply

>I don’t really understand the point behind him making some village in Italy his home in his twilight years. Seemed random.

The point was to change the scenery. You want to see another American city?
