I'm just not laughing

Look, I'm the biggest "Mr. Show" and "Arrested" fan there is. I marvel at David Cross's talents, as a writer, actor, even a standup. I even like my share of British humor, and I do admire, in theory, the hybrid of styles Cross is trying for here.

But after watching most of Season 1, I gave up on it, when I finally realized that I was sitting there stone faced each week. The Season 2 teaser episode made me decide to give it one more try.

Nope. Same problem. I can't say the show is UNfunny. But there just seems to be any fresh or surprising moments that genuinely tickle me.

I really wish I could say otherwise, but this one is a thumbs down for me. Let all the other threads analyze or argue; I just ain't laughing.

I just saw the pilot, and you summed up my feelings about the show completely. Something about it is just off. I am just not laughing like I would presume I would; love Arrested Development and David Cross, but this show somehow just doesn't hit the sweet spot.

Agree 100%. MR. SHOW is one of my favorite shows of all time, but Cross needs an Odenkirk, you know?

I didn't find this show funny or entertaining in the slightest. Which surprised me because the concept and cast are great. Just wasn't for me. Maybe I'm spoiled by the brilliance of shows like CURB...

I never seen Mr Show but was a huge fan of Arrested Development. I'm in the middle of season 2 on this show, and I love it. Part 1 was pretty good and I felt it was original, but season 2 has a lot more moments that crack me up and cause me to rewind it.(The argument with the lawyer)

There is some stupid things I do not like in part 2 that I don't want to go into withhout a spoiler, but it's how someone's character thinks someone is a ghost.

I think season 1 was pretty good, but season 2 seems to be pretty damn good so far.

I agree. Why waste your time with a show that just doesn't produce any laughs?

The thing is, this show is designed to reward those who stick with it.

I agree that it wasn't laugh-out loud funny for a majority of the first season, and even some of the second. But it wasn't until the end of the show, that I finally started getting a lot of the jokes that were set-up along the way, and I got that that was part of the joke, and the real redeeming quality of the show. I found the whole thing pretty awesome by the end, and the show basically rewards you for reaching the end - basically anything that may have looked like a plot hole, or a super-odd moment gets explained. Think of it as the opposite of "Lost".

My feeling about the show, is that it's a bit of a ride, but you have to take it the whole way to get the final laugh. I get that it's not typical, but it reminds me of a REALLY long joke with a great punchline. I was always an Andy Kaufman and alt-comedy fan, and I think this fits right in. It might help many to know when starting the show, that maybe they shouldn't be trying to understand everything that happens, right away. I think the real humor starts to come later, when you figure out just what the hell is really happening on this show - but you have to keep in mind that it takes a little while to get there. But when you do, it's great.

I just think most don't have the patience to stick with something when they don't get where something is going, and haven't been promised answers. But this one will reward you if you stay, especially if you like some seriously dark comedy..

Watching this show was an increasingly poor decision. I agree, not funny at all. I love Blake Harrison in "The Inbetweeners". Even his appearance in this show was not enough to make it work.

I don't care what others who like the show think. I didn't care for it.

I didn't laugh out loud much either. But I don't think whether I laughed or not is the only criteria to judge it, even if it's a comedy. I enjoy it, I like the characters, and the plot is interesting and unpredictable. It's an addictive show and I wish there were more, although it's probably best as is.

The molecular gastronomy had me on the floor though :)

This 'show' is garbage. Plain and simple.

You Suck...now deal with it.
