I couldn't believe how bad it was. So much potential completely wasted. This was a disjointed, meandering, mixed up mess. It was like they really had no idea what to do with Gru after making him a good guy. The villain was lousy and there was no suspense whatsoever during the final fight. I had to go home and watch the first one again to wash the bad taste of this garbage out of my mouth...
shareLoved DM1. Overall, for many of the points other people have already made, I was disappointed in this one. DM2 movie is just a mish-mash of ideas, with very little if any cohesion between them. And so many of the gags just felt forced. I could see the gag, I got what they were going for, but the gag often fell flat.
Silver lining: I liked the chicken. That was a new tidbit that was working.
If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.
I'm sure the children loved DM2 but to me it was such a let down. Not funny. That new character Lucy was annoying. The kids really didn't have a purpose in this film. You're right, so much potential completely wasted.
shareHad a couple of LOL moments, but for the most part I agree with you; DM2 was dumbed down for the kids market and we walked out on it. They didn't capture that magic where there was something for kids and adults - this felt like it was written for kids from four to eight years old.
shareI agree. Loved DM1. Clever, good story, good asides for the adults. A movie with real heart. DM2 had none of that. Was just an excuse to have minions do a lot of goofy stuff with bathroom humor. Kristen Wiigs character poorly conceived and poorly executed. Granted, KW is just not that talented to start with, but the film makers didn't give her much to work with. This felt like a set up for the launch of a Minions tv show.
