Was the only reason for Captain to be black, because...

To fill a movie industry race quota that's the norm these days? Considering it's a European folk tale taking place anywhere between 1400-1600s, the black was was out of the question in a ROYAL SETTING.

That big black man made me and my friends laugh when we watched it (yup, one of the EU states here).

Though yes it's still better than the 1997 movie with a black Cinderella. :)))))

Normally I would have been annoyed, but I liked the Captain in this. He was always looking out for the prince, and acting as an advisor as well. Plus, they can [sort of] get away with this because it's a fairy-tale, and you can use many different ethnic groups in these stories, even if it wouldn't be realistic in a kingdom based off of a real one.

What ACTUALLY annoyed me about this film, was the fact that they KNEW the girl the prince danced with was white, had blond hair, and dark eyes, and yet they were trying the slipper on EVERYONE, including girls who looked nothing like her. Really dumb, in my opinion, but they did that in the '97 film with Brandy too.
