I miss the news segment.

Hearing about what's coming up new in the world of super motoring was always very welcome, and a source of humor and criticism that made good entertaiment. And as an American, hearing about the crazy ass traffic laws and problems in Europe was always very interesting. The chief brilliant thing about Top Gear is that it's a documentary, longform style, that has cataloged the evolution of motor sport driving. All the technological innovations, film segments about famous racers, attitudes and opinions of the masses, you name it. Carried through into Grand Tour. It was true motorsports journalism. That is sorely missed. It's great that this is an Event show where stupid spectacles are performed for our amusement. But I think these new guys should be allowed to do more.

One of my favorite things about the show. Loved the jokes, the banter and especially the christmas episodes where they mocked stupid car merchandise.

Exactly. Them chiming in about the designs of the cars was scathing. The companies for sure hated that. But every now and then, they'd love it. Brought a real genuineness to the show.

A complaint I have about the new presenters is they're just huge fans, of the show, of cars, and they're just happy to be there. And they have nothing critical to contribute cause they don't want to ruffle feathers. Even in the early days of old Top Gear, them blokes would call a turd a turd. And so their opinion has no weight. Hopefully after they're there a few years they open up. But it's just not special, even though the show is still a fun watch. They'll slip in a zinger right at the end to give a hint how they really feel. I want to hear them take cars apart. Not just to be mean. But to be honest. Car design is hit or miss. If they're not call calling it out, car makers won't fix it. Top Gear helped make the modern super car.

I can see this, but in the end I am looking for entertainment, not an avenue to improve super cars. I felt like Freddie, Chris and McGinty were the second-best lineup Top Gear ever had stretching back to the days of Tiff. They knew how to have fun, and I found it very entertaining. I started watching this show probably around the 6th or 7th season of the reboot with Clarkson, May and Hammond and, don't judge me, but it has literally been playing on my computer ever since and is right now. I am forced to recognize that it is my favorite show of all time.

Hope Freddie recovers completely and is the wiser for the experience.

I've barely watched Top Gear since the new 3

they still have all the cars and the tricks and the camerawork, but it's lost it's "essence"

The Grand Tour is where Clarkson May & Hammond are now

I think it used up the "essence"
Its worn out even in it's new "grand tour" jacket.

The roadtrip things they do re the only bits worth watching. The "specials" as they call them. Although they seem to be only doing those recently arnt they?
