Well? Did you enjoy it or did you just watch because in your mind he is "hot"? Do you consider him attractive in this movie?
shareI watched it after the Ken Burns PBS Doc "Prohibition", both rented from Netflix. I like history a lot and was hoping J.Edgar was historically accurate enough so I could feel I was learning something, but I don't know, maybe reading his biography would have been better in this case.
Leo's OK, his acting hasn't put me off...yet. :)
I enjoyed the movie to the extent that I'm interested in the emergence and growth of the modern American state, its instruments of surveillance, propaganda, and political manipulation, etc. Too bad Eastwood's remarkably inept direction and Dustin Lance Black's dull, meandering, cliche-ridden script made it tough going at times.
By "him" I hope you mean DiCaprio, because J. Edgar Hoover - by all accounts a humorless, sexless man's man - does nothing for me. Yes, DiCaprio still looks appealing in the scenes without heavy makeup, although he does his best to suppress his natural warmth and charisma.
Your turn. What made you want to see this movie and how do you feel about it? Did you see it because you expected a lot of G-man action scenes?
I thought it was a bit slow at first, but I ended up enjoying the movie. I did not watch the movie for Leonardo Dicaprio and no he was not attractive in this movie. This was one of his better acting jobs.
I've always found J. Edgar Hoover to be a rather fascinating and mysterious person and that is why I watched this movie.
I watched it simply because it was coming on HBO and I had been away so much over the past month that I hadn't had a chance to see much on cable lately.
I'm not a DiCaprio fan, even though I do like movies like Catch Me If You Can and The Departed. I've never found him to be attractive, and I didn't think he was attractive in this role.
I didn't think the movie was all that great, but I liked the movie from the historical perspective, though. For example, I had always heard about the Lindbergh baby, but I didn't know what happened surrounding that event.
I never found DiCaprio attractive and yet always (except now in this ) ended up admiring him. I watched it hoping for a good movie. Oh, well. Too dark for starters.

No, I was responding to the post. And yes, there are movies I especially watch because I find the lead male attractive. DiCaprio doesn't happen to be one of them. So there.

I watched it because the story sounded interesting, Leonardo DiCaprio is a great actor and Clint Eastwood is a great director.

I watched it because I had just read "Hellhound on His Trail" about the FBI's investigation of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. The book described Hoover's vendetta against King and the Bureau's subsequent success in identifying and finding James Earl Ray. So I wanted to see more about Hoover.
DiCaprio's playing the lead role was irrelevant to my decision to see the film.
