Worst movies in a film series

I can remember as a kid, loving the movie Speed when it first came out. Then, a few years later, was so excited to see Speed 2 in theaters. Then, after walking out after the show, I can still remember that sense of extreme disappointment..how they could get it so wrong with such a great franchise. I hadn't felt that disgusted about a sequel since then.....until now with a Good Day To Die Hard. I won't even go into how bad this film is on so many levels. (It actually makes even Speed 2 look like a decent movie) That got me thinking though. What are some of your opinions on the worst sequels or terrible movies from a good franchise series. Here is my short list:

A Good Day to Die Hard
Speed 2
Godfather Part 3
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Batman and Robin
The Next Karate Kid
The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon's Emperor
Jaws: The Revenge

Any others that come to mind?

Batman-Batman & Robin(duh)
Superman-Superman IV(for many years was my most hated movie of all time until last year, see below)
Spider-Man-Spider-Man 3(Gets worse with each viewing)
Transformers-Transformers 2(Nuff said)
The Mummy-The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor(ugh...)
Oceans-Oceans 12(I like it alright, just 11 and 13 were much better)
The Hangover-The Hangover III(hated this one, the second one is funny compared to this)
The Lord of the Rings-Return of the King(I still really like it, but I loved the first two, this one just seems weaker compared to them)
The Hobbit-An Unexpected Journey( Still liked it just suffered some pacing issues. Even though the trilogy isn't finished, I doubt There and Back Again will suffer the same problems)
Star Wars original trilogy-Return of the Jedi(liked it but its weaker compared to IV and V for obvious reasons)
Star Wars prequel trilogy-The Phantom Menace(Jar Jar)
The NeverEnding Story-The NeverEnding Story III(Didn't know this one existed until last year, after watching it I have decided this is the worst piece of crap that ever existed)
Scream-Scream 3(Really?)

Forgot about that one, but it still doesn't "top" Superman IV. I didn't realize NES3 existed either until I ran across it in a bargain bin maybe 10 years ago. I thought "Hmm, the kids liked NES 1-2, so for five bucks I'll grab this one too!"

Ugh. about 40 minutes in I decided it was the worst movie I've ever actually purchased. One wonders how movies like this ever get greenlit, even with the micro-budget it probably had.

I can't believe I had to get to the final page to see this in the list. The Neverending Story was my favorite movie growing up. I loved it so much. I was 13 when the third one came out, and very naive. I felt that the second one was an okay movie, but nowhere near as good as the first. And in my innocence I thought "Well they learned from their mistakes! The third one will be back to being awesome!" because I thought that's how the world worked.

Dear god. It was so bad. It started with a premise based on a "wish overload". I made it as far as seeing a really cheesy rock biter and his toddler rolling down an Earth highway singing Born to be Wild. I've never been able to trust since then.

There was no need to make this movie, a waste of talent and money. John McLane goes to Russia and destroys half of it. The car chase, where are the police, no innocent people were hurt, or we just don't care. Every Russian ( except for the cab driver ) that McLane met was bad. With regards to sequels:-
Spderman 3
Rocky IV and V
Twighlight pictures
Blade 2, 3

saw: final chapter (although prvious few were bad also)
mummy 3
scream 3
good day to die hard

I'm just going to throw this out there, I enjoy Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. GASP! I said it. I think James Rolfe's list of 10 sequels that aren't as bad as people say nails it right on the head of why the movie shouldn't be getting as much flak as it does.

However, as much as I give credit to that list, he puts Halloween 3 on there, and I think that movie is dreadful. So, obviously our opinions don't always line up.

Another movie I will defend till the day I die is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, as it is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's hard for me to pick a favorite of the original Indiana Jones trilogy, but on some days this one beats out the other two, depending on my mood. At the very least the last half hour of the film is incredible, and is everything I want in an Indiana Jones movie.

Also, I think Spider-Man 3 gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Sure, he jazz dances in it, but at least there isn't anything like the horrendous scene in Spider-Man 2 where a little girl picks Peter Parker up onto a staircase. I'm sorry, people think the jazz dancing is dumb? The aforementioned example I just gave is REALLY dumb.

That's enough of sequels I tend to defend. My lists of awful sequels goes:
A Good Day to Die Hard
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

And that's about it. Even though I mentioned Halloween 3 as a bad movie, it didn't piss me off as a sequel like the other two I mentioned did. Halloween 3 was low budget, had great ideas, and had a great soundtrack. It was just the acting and execution of their great ideas that were awful about it. With that said the other two movies I listed are high up there as the worst movies I have ever seen and there is nothing redeemable about them.

Just MY opinion, but I think it was to prove a point that 'R-rated isn't better' due to fans' negative reactions to DH4 being PG-13. So of course, like any big studio that wants to prove 'their way or the highway', they hired the crappiest people they could find, thus NOT proving their point and pissing on one of their most iconic franchises all at the same time.

They always say that crap to promote their movie, even after it's been made to squeeze a few more suckers.

Well, going by how big a difference between how good the original movie was and how bad the sequel was, I would say:

Speed and Speed 2 is definitely up there. also, I would include Starship Troopers and its sequels, most def The Godather and part 3, The Arrival/Arrival 2, personally - i thought both the iron man sequels sucked. What about The Blues Brothers 2000, ha!

The Exorcist 2, and the worst of them all: Indiana Jones and the crystal skull BS - I really wanted to commit hara-kiri after seeing that...

A lot of people have mentioned Leprechaun In Da Hood. Have these people not seen Leprechaun 4 In Space? Honestly one of the absolute worst films ever made.
