A more interesting question to ponder is whether our era would be idealized and glorified by future generations. I know the moral of the movie is that everyone feels as though a time before their's was better, but the people alive during your ideal time felt the same. I'm just not sure that people from the 2090s would feel the same about the 2010s. It's just really hard to imagine.
I think our era will get skipped over by future generations when they look back. For example, I think most people alive today would say the 1920s were an interesting time and there was an exciting culture, great artists, great music, great fashion, great architecture etc. But then the 1930s and 1940s and overshadowed by global depression and global war. I can't imagine too many people saying they'd love to go back to the 1930s.
We tend to skip forward to the 1950s when rock 'n' roll was born, a new culture was created, television was born, space exploration began, etc. I think this era will be remembered for wars, recessions and people will skip forward to perhaps the 2020s for some idealized time before their's that they'd love to travel back to. No one's going to dream of being alive in 2012 I can't imagine.
