Similar Visual Style

Okay so there were thing I liked and didn't like about this film but it was the visuals that really grabbed me. Everything shot at night looked brilliant.

Can anyone recommend me films or tv shows that have a similar look to them? I'm working on a bit of a project and could use some inspiration in line with the look of this film.

Thanks for any feedback.

The Conformist, Kar Wai Wong movies

Yeah, the visuals are awesome indeed. You might watch Kar Wai Wong's Chung Hing sam lam or Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers as well, I think they both have pretty similar visuals.

Please watch the following:
Blade Runner
Enter the Void
Drive
Bringing out the Dead
Streets of Fire

The visual style is more in tune with Wong Kar Wai films especially In the Mood for Love.

Enter the Void
Drive
Valhalla Rising
Bronson

Blue Velvet, for the slow club scenes.

Strange days
certain parts of Mulholland dr.
The re-make of Total Recall (even though it's a bit crap)
Johnny Mnemonic (even though that is crap too)
Dark City

I'm leaving. I've assessed the situation, and I'm going.

"Enter the void" with is way more experimental ;)

reply

Definitely agree with many of the suggestions but while watching it I was reminded of 'The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover' in the way that whole scenes appear to be dedicated largely to a specific colour...did anyone else see that also?

Enter the Void

reply

Just be sure to shut Enter the Void off right before the camera goes into the love hotel. The film goes from mezmerizing and fantastic to one of the most pathetic wastes of celluloid in the past 50 years or more.

Drive and The Raid 2.
