Similar Visual Style

Okay so there were thing I liked and didn't like about this film but it was the visuals that really grabbed me. Everything shot at night looked brilliant.

Can anyone recommend me films or tv shows that have a similar look to them? I'm working on a bit of a project and could use some inspiration in line with the look of this film.

Thanks for any feedback.

If you're talking about the neon, grittiness I'd start at blade runner.

i'm glad someone mentioned BLADE RUNNER, I was reminded of it whenever "Sister Part 1" played.

Bladerunner, Taxi Driver, certain scenes of Firefox (sounds wierd I know, but beleive me, there is great cinematography hidden in there). Also, in terms of lighting, anything Roger Deakins does can be studied and learnt from.

Firefox

The Clint Eastwood movie?

That's the one. Overall the movies is watchable at best, but the cinematography, especially in a certain bathroom scene in a Russian train station, is quite impressive throughout.

I might have to revisit the film sometime then. I initially wrote the whole thing off for being surprisingly kind of boring, though I partially remember the bathroom scene you're talking about, and I seem to recall it as one of the better parts.

2001, The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, Twixt, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Bringing Out The Dead, The Lords Of Salem, After Hours, etcetera.

Try "Enter the Void".

Valhalla Rising, Enter the Void.

The cinematography in this movie really reminded me of The Punisher: War Zone. Not really a "good" movie, but it has a very similar look to it.

old boy (the Korean one) and generally korean cinema.

The gaudy color aesthetic of OGF reminded me a bit of Dario Argento (particularly Suspiria) and Mario Bava. If you want to watch recent films that look like it, I would recommend Enter the Void and Beyond the Black Rainbow.
