Why would Heather still be alive?

Honestly I didn't ask myself this until the movie ended. But it's been over 10 years since she went missing... How would she survive without food?

I'm open to an explanation or two.

And why didn't he believe that the witch is a real thing after watching the video? How much of the documentary did he see? Because as soon as he sees the hanging stick symbols he's ready to leave. Did he not see that part of the doc?

Again, I'm open to an explanation or two.

Seeing what is made possible by the Blair Witch, the idea that the house was trapped in some kind of time bubble wouldn't be too far out of the question. Let's be honest, things were pretty *beep* up by the time we got to the end of the film so a "natural" explanation for what's happening may not be on the table.

I thought about this a lot all through the movie. Then when the couple comes out of the woods after only a few hours and says it had been 5 days since they had seen them it made me think: what if to Heather only a few days have passed while the rest of the world progressed decades?

It doesn't explain why he would think she is still alive, but if she were it would explain how she hasn't starved to death.
