Japanese sickening atrocities necessitated those A bombs

They mutilated allied prisoners and refused to surrender.

Even the Nazis were shocked by the Japanese army's behaviour at The Rape of Nanking.

Then there was Unit 731...

Japan was cut off, isolated, starving, their fleet obliterated. they lsot all the territory they had held and had no way to counter attack, or launch any sort of offensive. THey would have surrendered eventually

the bombing was 100% political. to send a warning to the USSR, and to wrap it up quickly and nicely for american voters at home tired of the war.

vaporizing 100k civilians instantly and killing far more with the radiation afterwards to put japan on its knees, despite being horrible and committing war crimes , when it was ready to collapse shortly due to economic exhaustion anyways was a war crime in itself.

I agree.

What did the USA deserve for Abu Ghraib, then? Just to name one high profile case.

So, you are saying the bombs were dropped out of vengeance?

reply

Yeah, it's interesting that you always get to hear about what the Nazis did, but never about the Japanese. All we hear about is how innocent Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to camps in America. We never hear about how the Japanese overseas were so cruel to their undesirables and prisoners of war, that they make the Germans look like playground bullies by comparison.

Uncomfortable fact: some of the stuff we know about things like hypothermia came from inhuman Nazi experimentation, as well as some sick things the Japanese did with their prisoners.
