After they got the drone tie their phone to the drone and lower it down to the ground to get a signal and send their message that way? The drone battery wouldn't have needed to even last long for that.
Seemed like the smarter thing to do than relying on it to get all the way out to the diner with a note.
I vaguely remember it was the phone. But, apparently there were other plotholes with the drone, anyway:
"Hunter tossed her cell down in a padded shoe to see if it'd pick up data on the ground in the opening act. However, it didn't work, which is why Becky had to use her phone to pilot the drone. The problem is they had no service, so there's no way Becky could have downloaded the app and used the phone to see the flight path. She didn't even know anything about drones prior, so she wouldn't have had the app before. In addition, Fall never explained how her phone didn't die after being up there for so long without charge. Becky was constantly trying to get service and data, too, so it was being drained." https://www.cbr.com/fall-biggest-plot-holes-unanswered-question/
If was a dopey movie, but still very entertaining. I saw it 3x. 😆
Watching it back again they definitely used a controller for the drone but had the phone attached to the controller to use as a camera to see the Drone's POV, but i don't think the phone was being used to control it, i think it was mainly just to be able to see what the drone was seeing. So i think they coulda just detached the phone from the controller and lowered the drone down as far as it could go without seeing the POV of the drone.
I don't have the film right now and I'd have to rewatch to know what happened before the drone scene. Perhaps not a good idea putting all her eggs in one basket by risking the phone and drone? Would the drone hold the phone's weight?
The drone could definitely hold their phone. Drone's have delivered packages, one could hold a tiny phone.
And i don't see how it would be putting all their eggs in one basket, i don't know what other way the phone would help them other than lowering it to the bottom of the tower to pick up a signal. Cause at the end when she put the phone inside Hunter's body and tossed it over the phone got a signal and she was rescued, coulda easily done that with the drone with a full charge.
Ever used a drone? A lot of drones have a separate remote but require your phone to make the connection between the drone and the controller. No way to control my drone with just the controller. I have to have my phone plugged into it.
