One of the main attractions of Christian films that makes it come alive are people who truly believe in what they're doing. Cecil B Demilles Ten Commandments did well be somewhere those actors and actresses had a belief in God or believed in the moralistic tenets of Christianity.
Sure they should direct "Christian films", whatever the heck a "Christian film" is. This wasn't one. I've never seen one, unless you're talking about those shows they used to show when I was a boy at Center Street Methodist.
I'm an Agnostic/Atheist/Whatever you want to call questioning the word of man in God.
I'm well versed in all Christian doctrine, was raised Methodist, went to Catholic high school, a Catholic University and can quote the Bible with any priest. I've also studied the Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim. Have you?
Better yet, does it matter how educated either one of us are on the word of man's writings on God?
The answer is no. If your answer is yes, then you worship a Caucasian Christ, didn't watch this film and question why the entire cast wasn't of Middle Eastern decent or black and are sitting here whining about Ridley Scott screwing up what you study at your church on Sunday.
Oh wait, that is what you're doing. You're insulting Atheists. People who for the most part simply don't believe in your religion because they understand that factually, it cannot possibly be right. Science denies its ability to be so.
Next time just turn the film off if you're not enjoying it.
No one is insulting atheists so please stop twisting this around when you're the main one insulting Christians. It's Christians who are being systematically killed world wide. There are people going in churches shooting them up and starving them overseas. You all are the ones insulting Christisns and trying to kill them off and attacking them. All I said is if you don't believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac or Jacob why write a film from an agnostic or atheistic point of view. All your doing is trying to start a fight and persecute Christians FOR THEIR BELIEFS. Christians would have issues with me as well because I believe in ALL religions having their day so as long as they're not abusing other religions. But I have over the years been seeing a hatred and disrespect and violent abuse come against Christians who are not preaching, who are not forcing their beliefs on people and who are just praising God in church. So stop trying to make atheists or agnostics the victims because your not. Until you've been fed to the lions, or stood in front of a firing squad for your beliefs, or starved out, or machine gunned down in the street or placed in jail for preaching peaceful messages then you should just keep your mouth closed. All groups that act like they've been more victimized then the church or any of God's people should be ashamed of themselves. Your not the victim. God's people have always been the victims on this earth.
I meant to say why write a Christian film from an atheist point of view if you don't believe. It's called bully behavior. Simple as that.
Quite frankly I don't care if you write an atheist film. Just leave Christians out of it or target the other religions AS WELL. Why single out Christianity and not the other religions. It's incredibly disrespectful to just focus on one religion and NOT THE OTHER RELIGIONS like Islam who believe in abusing women for not wearing a shawl.
I agree atheists should't direct movies based on religious texts. It makes no sense at all. It insults believers plus we atheists are the least likely viewers. Religion is here to stay like it or not.
It depends. I don't mind an Atheist director making what he would consider a realistic version of a Bible story. I do mind an Atheist director pretending to be making what he would consider a realistic version of a Bible story. You know, like this movie. Ridley and the 4 script writers tried to balance facts with miracles and they failed miserably.
Well it really doesn't matter what u think. Atheists can make whatever movies they want and I hope they make a lot more showing the absolute absurdity of religion and it's deceit and control of so many people all over the world. I have difficulty respecting beliefs that have no basis in fact and have so much power and influence on who we love or who we hate. If the devil is real and he really is "the great deceiver" perhaps he was the one who gave man religion first.
