Why is it ALWAYS WOMEN who are possessed in these movies?

Why is it always young women? Why never young men? Is it because women are thought on some level to be evil, weak, hysterical, easily swayed, out of control creatures that have to be 'saved' and made to 'shape up'? Maybe they think this will bring in the male audience who want to see the evil-possessed woman suffer and suffer until she is made 'normal' again? I should think aimless, drug-huffing, aimless MEN would be just as, if not more, apt to be possessed by Tha Devil. And I guess that wouldn't be so much fun to watch.

Most possession movies are going for the same thing this one did, an anti-Christ, but have the priest win in the end. Since the Christ was born male it makes sense that the anti-Christ would be female since it is a mirror image of the Christ.

There are exceptions... What about THE POSSESSION OF MICHAEL KING...

These ripoffs all imitate that old classic that made a fortune, that's all. Also, a possessed young woman is creepier than an older man.

Well the basis of your suggestion is very flawed. Demons are defilers. They do not go after dirty souls, they want to defile the innocent ones - they already possess the unclean souls.

However, since this is a movie, and not actually a true story - I digress. And of course, there is no actual demon possession in this movie, thank you very much.

Are you serious?

The Rite
Prince of Darkness
Fallen
Amityville Horror
The Shining
Paranormal Activity: Marked Ones
Insidious
There was even a Exorcism of Male Name
There is also a new movie coming out with a guy bound to his bed possessed

Sure there are more but that's all I can muster up for now.
