How did Rick not see Carl or Lori in any of those dream sequences?

Those seem like the main two he'd see, but he sees Sasha instead? Sasha is the final person he sees in the dreams? Why? Where the hell was Carl? You'd think Carl would have been the final one to tell him to wake up.

I would've loved to see Carl or Lori or Glenn in that sequence. It would've made more sense and been more poignant. I like Sasha but I don't remember them as being that close.

I'm not sure about the others..maybe Gimple's call...but I do know that Steven Yeun has hung up his Glenn character and has said in interviews that he won't revisit him for any flashbacks etc..too bad. Maybe there's some bad blood with Chandler (or his father) and maybe they think Lori's presence would've clashed with his current love, Michonne.

It would've been more moving to see any one of them though..

Yeah Sasha felt out of place having a heart to heart with Rick, that totally should have been Lori or Carl, Rick had no emotional connection to Sasha at all really.

reply

Sasha was so random, they should have just left it at 2 characters Shane and Hershel if they couldn't get Sarah Wayne Callies back. I think there must be some bad blood with Chandler Riggs also.

If they had to include the Sasha moment, they should have just had it be Andrew Lincoln as the young Rick Grimes from the early era of the apocalypse coming face to face with his current self. Scene would have still worked.

reply

Not that I give any of them this much credit but Rick is wandering around in a virtual Christmas past searching for his family as he is dying.
And he knows he is dying.

I suppose, technically, that if he'd seen either Lori or Carl that it could be argued that his search would be over and he'd probably give up and give in and not try to wake up.

Seeing either of them would've been the death of him.

It's because Sasha was willing to do the scene for a free lunch. 😁

reply

yeah, after that disaster of a show that people will simply remember as STD, Sasha should be glad for a free lunch 2 min screen time. LOLOLOLO

reply

I thought they'd bring in Lori or Carl as well. That was weird that he would run into Sasha.

reply

It's pretty clear they're forcing the "strong female character" angle with Judith. Bringing back Carl would jeopardize people's initial reaction to the "Badass Judith" reveal. Can't have that. I suspect that's why Chandler was let go in the first place; so they could take that angle.

It was suggested, briefly, on Talking Dead....that Rick's fever dream was kinda analogous to Wizard of Oz, with Shane representing strength, Herschel representing wisdom, Sasha representing courage....and Mischonne representing home.

reply

Hmmm, and so Carl couldn't represent courage because of what Roxie said ^, or ...?

reply

Don't forget, he was looking for his family, in the end he found them, in the group.

Because casting availability

It would've been hilarious if he saw Negan and he just talked shit to him.
