Carl Has Three Chances To Live

The grave you saw Rick at in the preview for next season could be Gabriel's. He was sweating a lot in the last season just like Carl and might have been bit prior. So, Gabriel might go and the helicopter we saw this season in an earlier episode rescues Carl where they are working on a cure and we are left in limbo not knowing his fate. Probably a LONG shot but possible.

Two: another possibility is that he is immune to the virus.

Three: another possibility I read is that he was bit by a whisperer and not a walker.

If any of those scenarios turn out to actually be used, TWD can say goodbye to another million or two viewers.

reply

I can't disagree here. I'm watching out of habit as it is, but if something miraculously saves him, I'm pretty much done, and will just follow the comics.

reply

What is a Whisperer?

reply

Season 9, 10 and 11s "big bad".

reply

If you want to know, I will tell you under this spoiler:
They are people who are wearing the skins of the walkers. But they are very vicious. It has been rumored that the Mother in FTWD may turn out to be their leader, Alpha.
reply

Cripes, I hope like hell you're wrong about the Mom. That would be a crappy plot point.

reply

As long as hes just dead, Ill continue to watch out of habit. If he survives through some writing lore twisting bullshit, Ill be gone quicker than a gone thing that really wants to be gone.

reply

Any of those three would make me walk(er) away from the show and the comic.

reply

I like the Whisperer theory. I have been bothered by how clean the bite looked. I expect a walker bite to have more tearing.

reply

I agree that the bite looked almost "too clean." The reason I say that is that IF the bite was two episodes back the least we know is that he did change his shirt since then which would lead me to believe that maybe some time had elapsed. But, the clean bite looked very recent.

The reason he could possibly be immune is that in the Pilot episode in season one Rick was in the hospital and whatever IV/medication he had might make Rick immune. We also know that Carl has Rick's blood from the transfusions on the farm. Again, it's probably a stretch but possible. I've also read that it's possible that the walker bites might be coming less virulent over time. Anything's possible with this series but I would hate to see them kill Carl off. I think he's central to the story. The other thought I had was they will kill him off but not until he somehow kills Negan. There's lots of speculation and who knows how it will play out.

reply

Earlier fatal walker bites have looked quite similar to that one. Also, Gimple said on Talking Dead that this will "play out like all the other bites have played out" (paraphrase). It's done, he's dying. I wish I wasn't spoiled beforehand. Now I'll never know just how that scene would have impacted me.

reply

I like the Whisperer theory too, but I think Carl's bite looked like a Walker. Biting is not an MO of a Whisperer.

reply

That was a tame, clean bite.

reply

Yeah he was fired, but as to why though who knows

reply

or.....we've seen how to live through a bite. Maggie's dad was bit, Rick cut off his leg and cauterized the wound and he lived. All Rick has to do is cut off Carl's body and cauterize his torso stump.....problem solved :)

reply

If it turns out that he has an immunity (as much as I am tired of Carl) that would actually be a positive piece of forward momentum to the overall plot. It could take the show in new directions, rather than spinning the same old yarn they've been doing for the past five years

reply

That's true. I guess it could be a benefit to the progress.
