If it's about the "final episodes" of the "final season" then that should probably be discussed here: https://moviechat.org/tt30216340
<i>** final season/eps <b>spoilers</b>, in case anyone doesn't realize **</i>
Anyway, I too was disappointed. Normally I do like political intrigue, but that is not what we got here. Just an incessant string of betrayals and inexplicably ineffective leadership. Once the military brass were gone, suddenly the only paradigm was <spoiler>"either genocide or we don't reproduce."</spoiler> Wtf? Making those the only two possible solutions makes no sense at all. <spoiler>Eldians could have developed a charm offensive beginning with the nation of Hizuru and worked from there! Eren's actions didn't do anything to liberate any living person from an objective perspective-- and especially not himself. At best, it was just about freedom for Ymir,</spoiler> which wastes his character arc and makes it pointless.
So character progressions stalled (imo at least two of them were arguably ruined), and themes got seriously muddled, as far as I could tell. Also this is going to sound random but <spoiler>poor Conny's mom! I hope there was somebody around who could help when she went back to being human...</spoiler>
First saw it about a month ago and yes, I loved it.
I had no idea what to expect. I only knew that whatever form Gear 5 took, it would happen during the Kaidou fight. Maybe because Gear 4 didn't especially impress me (in light of Gear 5, Gear 4 now makes a lot more sense to me as a zoan ability now though), I wouldn't have expected much of interest until I saw articles in mainstream Western media about it coming soon, making a big deal out of Gear 5 for some reason. I was in no rush, but I decided to catch up about 3 months or so ago.
Love that everything about Luffy from the very beginning of the series got tied in together, from his goofy antics to his relentless pursuit of both his own personal freedom as well as the liberation of entire nations of people. Even his face-splitting grin (in Japanese, nika/niko) is revealed to be the true name of the fruit now. Some might think the animation was a bit over the top, but I was laughing out loud during of most it, while also feeling nostalgic since I'd missed how silly Luffy was in his fights early in the series. I think that was the point.
I totally agree with Oda's statement about not letting the series get too serious. One Piece was always supposed to be about a kid with ridiculous powers (that you shouldn't underestimate).
Just finished The Innocents and I found I liked it more and more with each ep. I ignored this for a long time because I expected it to be more about effects and spectacles than anything else, but instead it's a solid drama with memorable characters, and a little bit of effects here and there. Lots of lovely scenery. Nice soundtrack. Just what I needed for a while. Too bad it ended the way it did. I doubt there's any chance of a sequel. To me this show is an underappreciated gem. I don't think the initial marketing got it quite right or I would have watched it long ago.
That was what I was thinking early on. Eventually Adrian's character gets filled in some more though and it becomes clear he just had to have it all his way. Not a hint of blame. If they talked to the police, then his affair would have been unveiled, as he was supposed to be in Paris. For him, that was all that was needed to get the ball rolling.
Perhaps it was a little too subtle for some to notice, but I like how Erica grew this season. It pained me to watch her in Season 2, but I was glad to see her character fleshed out with talents and the whole fact she's a closet "nerd" herself, to the point where she's clearly calling Dustin a "nerd" affectionately by the end (though she obviously wouldn't admit it), because they've become friends. I also liked that once she absorbed most of the backstory about the Upside Down, El, etc., she didn't miss a beat helping out. Some folks apparently find the stereotypical attitude thing funny so there's that, but I'm glad there's more to her character now.
I have seen a lot of people post that interpretation. I can see why people thought so, but somehow I feel it's just another world in which the same people were brought together in yet another different way.
My interpretation is pretty close to the one in this video (except I think she also agrees with you about the previous stuff being part of a TV show within the show, which to her is a level of understanding or ascension): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKi-KyJkfgQ
I've always been suspicious about the bridge-jumping scene in S1 and whether OA was really meeting the kids and BBA for the first time, as well. I didn't really get into reading theories until the show was said to be "cancelled" (I don't think it really is). I just always felt that we were "misled" (more like re-directed) about where S1 connects to S2 (and everything else that happens).
Personally I don't think it was at the end of S1 that Prairie ends up jumping to the S2 dimension. If S1 leads to S2 anywhere, then I think it was when she jumped off the bridge right after escaping from Hap. What if what happens after the hospital scene is both the end and the beginning of the series (like the message on the door Karim reads in the infamous Nob Hill house)? And I don't think it's the least bit out of place for OA to have memories of things she technically hasn't experienced yet (i.e. teaching the movements to the kids and BBA in the later part of S1) in S2.
Elodie demonstrated that you can leave and return to a body in the same dimension. What if OA learned during her quest through multiple dimensions how to do just that, herself?
Definitely enjoyed the season, aside from a few quibbles. It'll be a long wait for the final one. I'll check out the story. Thanks.
I also found it mediocre. That said, even as a disappointed long-time fan of stories that play around with time, I can see how others might have found it satisfying who just watched it more for the simple story that was there.
^^^ I really only came into this thread to make sure someone answered along these lines. :P
It's not the hardest thing to imagine. I suspect the writer who came up with this either knows a particular diner that has martinis and didn't consider it to be an unusual thing, or they just don't know much about diners in general. Limited experience of one kind or another. But again, it's not impossible for a diner to have spirits.
She would, but those films were okay as they were, I think. Do you think a remake is necessary?
