Talking to Negan....just SHOOT HIM ALREADY!

He's standing like 50 feet away in open view with no cover, and your group of about 50 people all have guns pointed at him. JUST. KILL. HIM. War over.

Jesus, this show finds greater ways to be stupid with every new episode.

I gotta agree. There was so many opportunities to take out Negan via snipe during that 15 minute conversation. The war would have ended, and freedom would have reigned.

reply

And it's not just Negan. His entire command-structure walks out with him. That's the end of the war with the brush of a trigger.

Exactly! This is why I now know that TWD will not last for umpteen seasons. When silliness and lack of common sense prevail, it's over. The very reason this show has lasted is because of characters behaving reasonably ( well within the hell that is the ZA) . This has ALWAYS been my marker for excellent horror ( franchises like Friday 13th, etc notwithstanding ). If I can believe the characters will act with reason despite the craziness surrounding them, then you sold me!

Most of these scenes since season 5 are being recreated from the comics, they just take out the F-bombs and change some characters around. It will take 3 or 4 more seasons to catch up to the latest issue.

Big. Fat. YEP. God fucking damn these writers are fucking garbage at making people act in any way except 100% against their own interests.

Let's have a big speech about how all we need to do is kill one fucking guy. Then let's get the opportunity to kill him handed right into our fucking face and let's completely ignore it.

reply

I don't think it is the writers, it is the directing and staging that was incorrect. The setting just wasn't making sense for that scene. Probably due to budget reasons.

reply

The directing and staging didn't do the scene any favors, but it's the writing that fully exposed Negan and his lieutenants to 30 - 50 automatic weapons. It simply doesn't make any sense whatsoever why they would expose their entire leadership group to an enemy that's itching to eliminate them. Negan walked out there with complete 100% confidence that not one person was going to seize the moment and shoot him, and that's 100% unbelievable. The only way it makes sense is if he actually had a death wish, which later episodes would reveal to be untrue.

What's funny is that the show's writers spent a season and a half (or was it more?) keeping Negan in the shadows until his big reveal, only to constantly expose him to assassination attempts ever since. A couple of seasons ago, you'd think the man never left his cave.

reply

That's all this show is now; long winded bloated speeches and missed obvious opportunities.

reply

Wait.I thought Gabriel let himself be taken by Negan as part of a bigger plan.Didn't he say at the end that he was there to get Carson,Maggies Doctor, back.

reply

You've got the latest episode mixed-up with this original post, which refers to the confrontation scene in the premiere episode of this season.

But yeah, Gabriel might be smarter than people give him credit for; he could be faking the fever and chills he has in order to get taken to the doctor in an attempt to free him.

reply

First I was angry, then amused. I was so into the show I was actually taking it seriously! It just shows you how good the show is.

reply

Well, for the first four seasons I have been rapt, but since then , not so much. I hated last season, correlating with "Negan"and JDM over-inflated performance. I was incensed that NO ONE injured any of Negan's top goons!
