'He wasnt her brother.. that's something that people made up to make it cooler'
H2456, H20/Resurrection = W I P E D
shareH2456, H20/Resurrection = W I P E D
shareIt wasn't cooler it just added logic to the story. They wanted to bring Curtis back for part 2 but they needed a reason why Michael would go out of his way to track down her specifically.Without the sister connection Laurie is irrelevant. No more important than Annie or Linda. It makes no sense why he would sit in prison for 40 years pining over 1 random girl who got away.
shareWho gives a fuck? All Halloween sequels including the remake are trash so you should be glad this film ignores all the sequels and Rob Zombie's pathetic remake.
shareWell of course it ignored the remakes, really no choice but to do so, otherwise "That time I was a completely different person, and you were there but different, it was like a fever dream"
sharePart 2 was actually very good and 4 wasn't that bad.Other than that i tend to agree.I'm just saying i preferred the sister angle story wise.Without it his extreme obsession with Laurie makes less sense.
sharewonder if the Laurie/Michael siblings twist was introduced because of Empire Strikes Back the year before ?
shareIt makes more sense that Laurie is his sister. Gives him reason to pine over her, and validates lauries belief that he'll return for her.
shareI wouldn't say he sat in prison for 40 years waiting to go after Laurie again. Only one waiting to do something when it came to Michael and Laurie was Laurie. It's ALL the characters' actions that led Laurie and Michael to face off at the end of Halloween 2018. Heck, Sartain pretty much drove Michael to Laurie's house. But the reporters/podcasters kind of triggered him to remember the events of the first movie. So maybe that's why he had some interest in going after Laurie again. His reason to return to Haddonfield was because it was his hometown. No one really drove him to Haddonfield, but it was his hometown so he made his way there. Then all the characters started pointing him in the direction of Laurie's house. And I'm pretty sure Michael has no interest in Laurie because once Michael leaves the house after Laurie tries shooting him and hits the mirror, Michael never turns around once he is out of the house and Laurie chases after him and manages to shoot him in the shoulder. He just takes a bullet and continues walking and is on to the next victim/kill. But everyone else kept doing stuff that led Michael to end up at Laurie's house. Mainly Sartain driving him there. So Michael pretty much moved on. Laurie was the one who didn't move on from the events from the first movie and set up her house to be some trap for him. And she lived in the middle of nowhere and a couple miles away from Haddonfield. Michael probably would've just stuck to Haddonfield and continued killing people. But no. Everyone had to do stuff which led to Michael ending up at Laurie's house and the two got another face off.
shareFreddy isnt powered by fear that is something Freddy vs Jason producers made up in deserpate need of a script based on their very limited knowledge of the Elm Street Franchise
shareWere you unaware that this movie was going to be doing that until just now?
shareGlad you admit it was cooler when they were brother and sister ;)
shareI think keeping II in the narrative would've made more sense - without it, Michael's infamy seems drastically reduced from a guy who killed 15/16 people to 'just' 5 and his rationale for hunting Laurie after all this time a bit contrived.
sharehad they kept the bro/sis plot they could've continued on from H2. and also H20 (ignoring HR) or even HR! (just said Laurie survived lol)
shareThey should have done this. Picked up from H2 and ignore H20, making this their first meeting in 40 years. Getting rid of the family connection eliminates any reason why Michael would care about killing her. Lori should have moved on with her life if it was just a chance encounter.
shareguess they mustve come to the conclusion it would've just been seen as too much of a remake of H20
shareAnd good riddance!
Honestly, though, I was never that big a fan of the series beyond the first movie. 2 and H20 were decent, I guess. 4 was worth a watch. Rebooting it all the way to the first movie didn't really bother me much.
