Watch Romancing the Stone. It's a better movie with the SAME plot. Romance author gets involved with the real life version of the hero of her stories.

Have you watched Argylle? The plots of the two films are very different.

Yes. It combined plot points from Romancing the stone, total recall and the long kiss goodnight.
I stand by my statement.
I do respect Matthew Vaughn's directorial skill, buy it felt to me like the writers just borrowed ("stole") from several other films.
And don't forget James Bond.

Nope. I am not the end all be all of movie experts, but in my 72 years here, I have seen a LOT of movies, and sometimes it bothers me that there is rarely a new idea in film.
The last time I saw a film that I felt had a new idea was "The Quiet Place"

So much of this movies plot/twists were just stolen from much better movies. It had 0% originality to any of it.

I've pretty much given up expecting anything original out of at least mainstream Hollywood movies. It's all re-boot, re-imagine, sequel, or outright theft as has been pointed out here.

Same character arc basically. This movie is loaded down with so many other inane, ridiculous twists and moments of exposition. Romancing is without a doubt better
