Is it really that bad?
Most of the reviews I'm seeing are really negative.
shareNo, it’s not bad. It’s intentionally silly and ridiculous, but if you go with it, then it’s a fun time.
shareits alright, kinda G rated silly
kinda cute-goofy-funny, but not lol-funny for me
i think lots of people are rating it a 1 cuz theyre sjws pissed at jerry saying leftists killed comedy
plus hes a jew and theyre blaming all jews for israel hitting back hard at palestine
i'd love it if the sjws left the politics out of it, then i wouldnt feel the need to post this political part
Jesus christ ..
1) "sjws pissed at jerry " - only republicans put celebrities with different opinions int their schoolyard "mortal emeimies" book
2) "they're blaming all jews" - Hating jews is predominantly a right wing pastime.
3) "sjws left the politics out of it " - I had no idea politics had any connection to this movie (because it doesent, see #1 ) and it was still shit.
looks like u r another brainwashed dumbocrat
shareBefore this, I was the only person on the earth who remembered when Pop tarts were invented, and that they were unfrosted. I was surprised he remembered as he is younger than me. I was surprised he wrote a comedy about it. He left stuff out. There was a rival called Toast em Pop ups. But it is funny and totally watchable. Those who hate it, no doubt they were not born when Pop tarts were invented, and probably adore that they are now candy with the frosting and sprinkles. In the beginning they were meant to be buttered like toast for breakfast. He doesn't really go into this and I wish he had.
It is fun because of the cameo roles including Puddy, and Kenneth from 30 Rock, and many others. And Seinfeld is still so great at reactions. Some of the comedy may offend boomers ... but I guess enough years have officially passed to mock President Kennedy? That was a little iffy as Pop tarts came a few years after him, yet they kind of lumped in early 60s things with mid sixties things. If you can take that in stride, it's enjoyable.
Toast 'em Pop-Up's were the Post Country Squares after they rebranded due to initial failure. So no, that was not left out at all, that was the main point of the film!
shareNo, it’s not that bad at all. People are morons, reviewers especially.
It’s a fun, harmless, easy going comedy.
I didn’t laugh at loud or anything, but I definitely chuckled a lot. Lots of great cameos and inside jokes. Lots of Seinfeld type humor, and lots of 60’s era humor.
It’s the last movie I would expect people to have a strong opinion over, but like I stated already, people are morons. It’s a movie about breakfast and the creation of the pop tart. Haha.
Yup it is pretty bad, with a score of 5/10 on Imdb, you either love it or hate it, i guess. I found it to be very bland, boring, trying too hard to be funny, wooden acting and just not entertaining.
shareMy wife and I loved it, but we're older. I'm wondering if a lot of the reviewers/commenters are too young to get a lot of the references to the time period. I would assume professional writer reviewers have enough education to know about things that happened before they were born, but who knows?
shareI thought it was really funny. I don't know what critics want movies to be.
shareIt's clever and funny, but the sort of movie that isn't made anymore, so it may feel foreign to younger viewers. This feels akin to some of the early Coen Bros. films, especially The Hudsucker Proxy, and in some ways like a Mel Brooks film. It's absurdist, surreal, and full of quick, witty banter.
