Oscars: Are You *Bleep* Kidding Me?

Are They Seriously *beep* Us? This Was The Best Animated Movie of the Year, Now HTTYD2 is gonna win....

reply

It deserves to be nominated for Best Picture. This movie season was poor. The LEGO Movie was the brightest and most original movie of the year for me.
There were probably only 3 or 4 great movies this year. The LEGO Movie is better than 4 or 5 of the Best Picture noms.

reply

I disagree with this one being the best animation of the year, since Kaguya and Song of the Sea exist.

However, I do agree that it at least deserved a nomination and is the best among the North American animations of 2014.

"Citizen Kane" fan, "Frozen" fan, and "Boyhood" fan. ;)

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was a snooze-fest. The Lego Movie really got screwed over here.

I feel Lego was the snoozefest.

If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.

Did you watch it at home on your cellphone?

The Lego Movie was awesome!

wasn´t snooze-fest an insult?

They seriously beep.

If the lego movie was the first time animated Legos were used, it might have been better received by the academy voters.

But most fans of it seem unaware that it was preceded by lego star wars, lego batman, lego harry potter and many other direct to tv and DVD titles, not to mention the many lego games.

So the originality of the concept was long gone by the time lego became a big screen event.

On the other hand, almost every damn film have HUMANS. That is soooo tiresome.
/sarcasm

The thing is, it isn't that this was a lego movie that made it great - it was that it was a great film using (digital) lego bricks.

Does anyone outside Hollywood actually take awards and nominations seriously? It's a corrupt board full of company men who vote with their company wallets, not people who can make decent, logical decisions based on how good a film is.

This should be used as a proof next time someone says "animation is just for children"
The vast amount of adults getting upset over the fact that it didn't get nominated is from now on the best evidence that animation is for parents, and not just their children.

You see any 8-10 year olds getting upset over the snub? They probably don't even know about Oscars, yet alone care about it.

reply

Most adults don't care about animated movies let alone the Oscars. Hell, even the Academy members don't really care who wins. Many don't see the movies they vote for.

By May, the Oscars are usually forgotten until next year. By next year this years winners and losers will be forgotten by most adults.

All tht matters is the feeling you get when you watch your favorite movies year round.

This is the IMDb boards, pal - your reasonable points are not welcome here.

I don't even follow the Oscars anymore. I trust Rotten Tomatoes more than Oscars.
