"No...that's a *beep* film."

Care to explain ? People have been saying " it's a bad film" from day one without explaining what made it bad. Or are you one of thoes Automatic Kevin haters ????

I am in fact one of those automatic Kevin haters, but for good reason. He's a comedian, not an actor, in the same way Dwayne Johnson is a performer, not an actor. Both of these guys play roles we've seen them in before.

The movie itself is predictable, clichéd, and full of what I'd call cringe humor. There's no thoughtful comedy here, just physical humor and grown men squealing. You may catch a smirk or two, but the only real humor is in the genuine comedy found in the outtakes during the credits.

People can be more than 1 thing jackass.

A well reasoned argument good sir. Now if you took a minute to read the post instead of being an internet tough guy, you'd see that, my argument was that these two actors were not in fact portraying a different role, they are playing the same people in a different movie.

That is part of the reason it's not a good movie, there is nothing new here. Tired jokes with reused characters.

reply

A bold claim, but not one with merit.

I see little to compare Scorpion King, Fast 7 and Central Intelligence.

I see nothing of the character played in this movie, in the others.

Think more along the lines of "Pain and Gain", you know, comedies? The point was that he is an entertainer, not an actor (yes there's overlap, but Mr. Johnson isn't likely to get any Oscar nods). His comedic roles are identical, his over-the-top action roles are identical. That's your merit. The same for Mr. Hart, and dozens of other actors.

But the actors are only one cog in the "meh-movie" machine. The real crime in this movie is committed by the writers. Even the best of actors can't make a dumb joke land.

reply

It's nothing like Pain and Gain. This movie doesn't even compare to that imo. The plot line of Pain and Gain was really good for starters, they just happened to have a lot of comic relief mixed into the movie. The chemistry between the characters was really good as well.

Now this movie is a comedy with a very weak plot line. The entire movie is riding on the chemistry of two well-known actors, and the chemistry isn't really that great. There's plenty of funny parts, but nothing that great.

The movie was just ok imo, and I'm a big fan of both actors.

Good enough to go into my Netflix queue, but I don't think I'll see it in theater a second time.

reply

My wife and I enjoyed it and, judging by the other people laughing in the theater, we weren't the only ones.

reply

Average. Catch on Netflix.

I enjoyed it for the most part. I think The Rock is a great comedic talent as it is though so I feel he made the movie. Hart can be funny too but he's sorta just doing the same stuff.

Trying to create a funny, engaging YouTube channel. If you guys check it out, hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.

Millennial's bore easy because most have 15 minute attention spans.

The film was quite funny. My theatre was more than half full and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Not really sure why anyone with a sense of humor would complain about this one, but I really haven't seen any evidence from anyone complaining just saying it which only shows how worthless their opinions are.

It's a lot better than most recent comedies this year.

reply

I heard it's watchable, Rock and Kevin Hart are playing against type.

I took my goody-two shoes Mom, only because it was 117 degrees today in Phoenix, and shopping wasn't going to cut it...she giggled like a 3 year old.
