shareOh, it looks AWFUL! Pee jokes and CGI monsters and anonymous bad guys who can't hit the heroes with their ray guns, no matter how many clear shots they get.
But it might be the fun kind of awful. I'll definitely see it at some point.
I am not going to lie....I think Aquaman as a concept is stupid and hate the "Dude - bro" Aquaman in these movies....but I'm still going to go see it. Because I see all of these. I will see Venom at some point. I will see New Mutants.
But it's a D minus character in a D minus cinematic universe....so I'm not expecting anything.
I'm kind of hoping for something in the vein of "Thor: Ragnarok", where everyone involved knows that the concept they're working with is basically silly. And they have fun with it.
If the reviews are good, or other nerds say it's fun, I might even see it in a theater. Which would make it only the second DCEU film I've seen in a theater, the other one being "Wonder Woman". The rest, I wouldn't pay for.

I'll second that.
The goofy armoured sharks squaring off against big-ass sea horses(!?) had me rolling my eyes -- it's something you'd see in an animated cartoon series aimed at early grade-schoolers.
But Momoa's Aquaman-as-doofus/ frat boy kinda sells me on it. Prolly wait to catch it on VOD...
PS: Did Aquaman power up, or has he always been strong enough to lift a nuclear submarine out of the water?
That’s a tough one. For most of his career he was shown as being strong but not REALLY strong. Then in the late 80’s...they realized a guy who lives at the bottom of the sea is built to survive that. Which makes him actually pretty tough. He’s Still second fiddle to the likes of Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and of course Superman....but he’s still ridiculously strong and resilient.
shareNot just pee jokes but supposedly a lot of water vomiting.
shareIt looks fun. The chase sequence with Black Manta was kinda cool. Then again, DCEU movie trailers often look great.
I'm confused if this takes place before or after Justice League as well.
You know, for a long time now I've noticed that the worst movies had the best trailers and vice versa.
I formed this theory about the time "Star Wars" hit the theaters in 1977, did you know "Star Wars" had a thoroughly terrible trailer that had teenaged me rolling my eyes? Yeah, and "Suicide Squad" had a really great trailer, the "Bohemian Raphsody" one. That shows you what a great trailer is worth.
On a similar theme remember about five or six years ago, there was a trend of re-mixing trailers to change the tone of movies? It kicked off in a big way with that re-cut trailer for The Shining with Peter Gabriel's Solisbury Hill add to the soundtrack to make it seem like it was a feel-good family dramedy.
shareLooks like they should have called this Aquawoman. Aquaman is clearly just the comedic sidekick here.
shareI think he starts that way and then grows into the character as the movie progresses. He BECOMES Aquaman, he doesn't start out as him.
shareIs this before Justice League??
shareI think it is, right?
That's my understanding.
This article's about a year old, but according to it: "Jason Momoa says his Aquaman solo movie will tell the whole origin of Arthur Curry, but also explore the history that exists under the sea."

I like it.
I didn't care for the first trailer much at all, but this one has me hyped. Feels much more epic and that song is great.
I dig it. So it's Thor w/o the Darcy Lewis/Jane Foster shit? Alright...
