I thought she needed to take the mask off immediately. I figured there was a gas or poison that killed the previous "cleaners" before they could make it to the tree.
Juliette did something with the sheriff badge that showed her the sunny day was a hologram. There was also something about the tape, did the better tape protect her from the fate of previous "cleaners"?
I'm not quite understanding what happened, why she lived when others died. What killed the previous "cleaners"? What is real, what is not real?
Oh I missed that. I saw craters but didnt saw other bunkers. Have to watch it again.
But if world is really dead outside then Tim Robbins character is right and everyone should stop trying to go outside with false hope that everything is ok outside. Because its not.
Well we saw City in the distance. Could be one of those things where people actually live outside of bunkers where people think everything is dead like in The 100.
>But if world is really dead outside then Tim Robbins character is right and everyone should stop trying to go outside with false hope that everything is ok outside. Because its not.
I went and rewatched the end. Yes, there are like 20-30 other silos out there. I missed that since I was staring at the remnants of big city in the distance.
Wonder what she will do now. She wont die since she is main character. Probably will go and knock at the doors of other silo. :) Because if air is toxic then she will not have what to breath soon.
I wonder how many silos are still functioning since many of them probably had revolts and people killed each other. Because this is how humanity works.
But kudos to Founders who had built such massive structures to keep humanity alive. Wonder what happened. Earth was probably dying slow since they had time to build it all. Maybe something like in Interstellar where crops were not growing anymore and people didnt have food.

Who knows. They could have entirely different histories and cultures.
That's the part that piques my interest. They all could have developed completely different societies over the past 140 years, where some had successful revolts, others failed for one reason or another (dead generator), and some could have found some idealist society.
i thought the same thing. the suit is what was killing them, and the mask was just a screen they were looking through. plus, the whole cleaning thing i figured was faked (another screen). the ending made zero sense. it was a very unsatisfying finale.
And I actually didnt understand what happened and why she didnt die like Sheriff and his wife. And I actually hoped all this time that sheriff and wife are alive since I liked them. I was hoping its was all CGI for bunker people and they escaped and live happy ever after in real world. Or something.
But the world is really dead outside.
I like that nature was all hologram. Did not expect that twist. But I dont understand why Tim Robbing did it and what the point? It looks too advanced for this kind of society with old computers.
Thing were pointing out that this is experiment like that tv show with space ship when they were on Earth but believed they were flying in space. But they showed dead wasteland around the bunker.
And what with the Tape and Old Woman being all Mysterious? That didnt payed out. Or I missed it. Will go and watch You tube videos with explanations.
In the end, the tape saved the day and now Juliette will make her way to a neighboring silo and wave at the camera, startling everyone inside the cafeteria. (My theory)
Spoiler:
They stretched the whole thing a little too much. They could have shown easily her entry in the next silo and later on even her return to her home silo.
But then there wouldn't be any cliffhanger...
I can accept that, overcome with emotion, with what a cleaner sees through the visor (the hologram) they would want to clean the camera lens even though what is shown on the TV screens is real. Then the cleaner reaches the tree, is overcome with poisonous gas from the atmosphere, and dies. Jules survives because her suit is air tight.
But then the hologram in Jule's visor is turned off, the audience sees the world as it really is and... no dead bodies on the ground. Oversight by the makers?
Yes, worrying. So in reality there are no corpses but the world is deserted. From inside you see the world deserted and the dead bodies. Through the visor you see a green world and you can only estimate where the dead bodies are. That's why the sheriff took off his helmet...
So what happens in reality to the dead bodies? Are there any?
I though it a bit of a plot hole that weren't huge piles of bodies stinking up the view window, given how often they send people out, and how long they've been there.
I dont think so otherwise the "cleaning" wouldnt be a thing you plead with executed prisoners to do.
going outside however breifly seems to be a one way trip.
(if only because its only that one person who knows whic tape to use, otherwise they could be having little trips out all the time)
