Harrison Ford talks about how he wanted the ‘Indiana Jones’ saga to end

Made for geriatric watchers. Good movies don't really need an ending though if you think about it. It seems Disney wants to have closure of all the franchises of the past when all the famous heroes/actors are all retired/old/weak before relegating them into the dustbins of history, to establish younger actors to take their place or try to anyway.

The 4th movie had its flaws, but was a good ending to the series. Just like Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending and they had to ruin it with Toy Story 4.

This just in: Toy Story 5 has been greenlighted!

reply

Yup, they already destroyed the series though

I never really saw Indiana Jones as a character that needed a coda to the character's life like say Rocky Balboa. Last Crusade had Indiana patching things up with his father and the character rides off into the sunset and more adventures.

These films have always primarily been action adventure films with a cool character who every boy wanted to be when they were a kid. With Dial of Destiny it's now all "Oh it's a character study about getting old and getting over grief" like that's not what I watch an Indiana Jones film for to be honest.

But Harrison Ford is a legend and I'm glad he got a nice pay day from Disney out of this and he's happy with the film, but for me both this film and Crystal Skull I'll probably never watch again.

Well said, as soon as they started to overly delve into the nitty gritty of Indiana's personal life is where things got rocky. It worked in Last Crusade as a send-off, but we didn't need Indy re-uniting with Marion, getting married/divorced and all this dreck. The trilogy was perfect, and there's zero artistically valid reason for why additional films should exist.

I haven't seen Dial yet but understand there's a time machine involved.

If it was my story to write, I'd have the ending be that Indy and Marion go back in time to the time they were the happiest: the 1930s to live there forever.

it's not gonna end, their will be ai sequels in the years to come made by people on their computers.

reply

Could probably do a better job than Hollywood at this point

that was cool. haven't seen a serious Ford interview in ages. it's always some talk show fluff piece where he don't even wanna be there. still don't think he understands the Indiana Jones character. he's a larger than life pulp hero who doesn't confront old age like the rest of us do. despite his talk of not playing heroes, which for the most part I agree with, Indiana Jones is in fact a hero.

They’re going to reboot this franchise anyway once Harrison Ford dies. The same with Star Wars.
