Dial of Destiny Official Trailer!!

shareHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. . . . . . . .
Okay, well I'll say this: It LOOKS better than I expected. I actually think that's a strong trailer.
Harrison looks younger than expected. I wonder if they digitally fucked with his face at all or if it's just the costume and good make-up.
Kowing who the writer is greatly concerns me, and Disney's involvement is definitely a concern, but call me cautiously optimistic.
hes CG deaged to Last Crusade age for some scenes

Yeah, Ford clearly doesn't look like that today. That's good work, though.
shareIt looks uncanny. His head doesn't quite look like it matches his body.
shareHe was obviously digitally de-aged for some of those scenes. And that technology is getting better and better. I think it's cool. I remember the first time I saw something like that was in the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates (2009). It wasn't the best technology back then, but I thought it was cool as fuck that they de-aged him 15 years for that movie.
shareEven in the scenes that aren't flashbacks he still looks a little younger than expected. Compare to how he looks in this trailer for 1923:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SIXEy4cwiw
He looks 10+ years older to me there.
And I also saw Surrogates. It was an interesting film. At the time I didn't realize that this digital technique existed and I assumed it was just a great makeup job.
In one sense I think the de-aging stuff is cool, but in another I think there's something very off-putting about it.
I think it's the actors themselves that would find it the most off-putting. Like they're all for it for the movie but then most likely when they actually see it come to fruition it might cause them a bit of melancholy and probably feel a bit depressed after watching it.
shareI actually wouldn't mind seeing a whole of an older actor with his youthful deaged cgi look. They should try that one day to see how well it'll be perceived. Right now they're only used for small scenes, time travel stuff, or flashbacks.
shareNice to see Sallah return. And the reason for Harrison looking de-aged is because the movie seems to have flashbacks to the Nazi days. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull took place 12 years after WW2 ended.
sharelot's of cgi but i'm still looking forward to it
shareYep on the CGI. I just watched the trailer again and the ultra-digital look really stood out to me the second time around. That's one thing that was great about those original films, they very much looked shot-on-location and grounded in reality rather than consisting of little beyond digital trickery and soundstages.
shareYeah the digital look of the trailer really bothers me too. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had that same sterile look. Why couldn't they just film this in a way that looks more natural like the original movies. I don't mind cgi but I hate this digital look. I'm still looking forward to this but with lowered expectations.
shareCrystal Skull was a disaster all-around. I revisited it a few years ago for the first time since I saw it in 2008 and I disliked it even more the second time. The film is unredeemable.
I recall that Spielberg said that CGI would not be used much in Crystal Skull and he was going to shoot it in the same style as the original trilogy. Then clearly he did the exact opposite. It's a shame that Mangold didn't insist on going back to basics and shooting as much as possible practically.
The sound of the lightly tapped piano at the beginning reminded me of the Ghostbusters 2016 trailer, and that's not a good thing! Other than that I liked the action scenes, I just hope the worst of the rumours arenβt true.
shareCan't wait!! ππππ
shareThe de-aging looks pretty good, but the rest of the CG is pretty bad. They've got plenty of time to fix it, though.
shareHuh. It had a subtitle after all. It looks pretty good. I hate that last shot though. Once again old Indy is a dumb boob for amusement. But this mostly looks pretty damn great.
shareI have no faith in this movie being any good with the creative people behind it likely trying to destroy the legacy of Indiana Jones to setup Phoebe Walher Bridge as his female replacement in future movies. It makes me sick.
shareJames Mangold's involvement gives me hope. He made Walk the Line and Ford v Ferrari. He is at least an extremely talented director who knows how to make movies that are respectful of their subject matter.
shareBingo. With Kennedy in charge this has no chance of being anything other than a woke shit-stain that butchers Indy, degrades the series and insults the fans.
Crystal Skull will look like a masterpiece compared to this atrocity, mark my words.
