This movie was terrible. Syd Field wrote that you can wreck a good screenplay with bad acting and/or directing, but you can't make a good movie with a bad screenplay. That's what happened here. The acting and directing were good, but the script completely sucked. It's the type of script that Mr. Whipple would yell at you for squeezing.
The story was completely ridiculous. The characters were total cliches, and bad ones at that. The multimillionaire hitman who did it for the thrills, while driving around in a Ferrari and wearing $3,000.00 suits (nope, he wouldn't stand out at all). The junkie cop who is estranged from his family and a month away from retirement. The ex-con turned preacher (btw, could the message of the movie be hammered on any more subtley?) The plot was completely predictable.
The sheer lameness of this movie made me laugh. The only thing that made this movie better than G.I. Joe was that the Rock is cool, while Channing Tatum is kind of a dweeb. That, and the cars. It is a B movie (at best) that somehow managed to find some talent, making it better than it was.

When someone's got it, they've got it and I think Dwayne Johnson has just got it. I hope he makes a lot more movies similar to this before he's too old :)

So, I'm a troll because I don't like a movie and give specific reasons why? It used to be that in America we could have a difference of opinion without being personally attacked.
Why don't you just go all out and say, "Like this movie, or the terrorists win."
What did you expect from a 20 million dollar budget? The acting was surprising very well done and and the filming style was even better. That more than made up for the weak script. Yes it had plot holes and yeah some things should have been taken out because it was pointless to have in, but it was still an enjoyable movie. Considering the budget I think it was well done.
BTW you mentioned G.I Joe? The budget on that movie was roughly 160 million. If you compare the two movies and the budgets of both, Faster definitely was better and it was 140 million dollars less to make.
This movie was great...
The role Dwayne Johnson got was like a perfect match for him...
I hope he continues taking such roles as his acting was superb in this movie...
Between this & The Rundown are his best movies.

shareTotally agree with the OP! I went in expecting an OKAY action film. But came away very pleasantly surprised at it. I dont care if people think the plot line was predictable. The pace was good, the plot was done well and I think the Rock played this one really well. I am surprised that it didnt do so well to date in the movies, but when i saw teh Budget was ONLY $20m it made the movie that much more impressive.

Surprisingly, I'm neither surprised by this post or by how bad this film acrually was.
It worries me that people think this is good & sometimes I just wish I was one of those peole. Maybe it would be easier. Ignorance is bliss, right? Eh..
