Well ain’t that about a female dog (spoilers)

So, this thing (by ‘thing’, I mean “series”) moved too quickly, and ended equally as abrupt.
And, instead of a glorious conclusion, we are gifted with a tease of a reboot (which will probably never happen because of the current writer’s and actor’s strike effectively halting any viable creative energy that might have contributed to any such project).
However, I did enjoy the ride. Honestly, it was fun, but in retrospect seemed rushed. Not a lot of resolution, just a constant pushing-forward.
Oh, and what in the actual fuck was that dumbass Albanian wannabe-gangster thinking? Yeah, so I’ll go kill this guy while I’m crutched up with screws in my leg; what could possibly go wrong? (I think this constitutes as poor writing, in my humble opinion) (I mean, I know they had to get that guy out of the safe-room, but…really? That was the way?)
Main antagonist death was the epitome of anticlimactic, which is a real bummer in a show that had so much style and was capable of producing tense situations.
Well anyways….that’s my blathering two cents.
Wouldn’t mind a follow-up season though.

I have more faith in Justified getting another season (even with the strikes, which I support) than other great recent shows, such as Warrior on Max. I'm not basing this on viewership data, just an opinion. I agree the strikes are creative momentum killers and as a result many shows won't get renewed. I hope they let Justified live to see another day.

I think the odds are good with 2nd Primeval season.
Some small spoilers.
That scene in the gold car with Boyd and new friend off to Mexico was enticing enough.

It was just as surprising to me as it was to Mansell, “I can’t believe I’m checking out.” What happened to Sandy? So, not a dead girl. I loved Raylan’s time in Detroit. I liked this whole thing - this new season - especially the music when credits roll. I loved the story. The actors. The music. The writing. The bad guy and Raylan. Raylan. Raylan. I am looking forward to the next season.

The acting was great, the vibe was great, also dug the music.
It just felt—to me, at least—that the story was unnecessarily condensed at times. (For example, the story implies that the female detective was dirty, but it still came off as ambiguous and unresolved—like maybe she isn’t dirty, but instead just poor at her job?) (and like you mentioned, what happened to the girlfriend?)
And the Albanian boss was a total badass, and his henchmen were brutally effective, until it didn’t serve the story anymore which is annoyingly convenient from a writing standpoint.
But anyway, after I let this season rest in my head for a bit, I plan to give it another watch-through to see if I latch onto parts of the cinematic rhythm I might have initially missed. Perhaps the pace was perfect, and I just wasn’t prepared for it.

I think the whole thing with the detective’s name in the book, and her attitude of “so what, it’s bs,” was to show that a lot of the plotlines related to the book were just so much “doesn’t matter, the dead judge was just a weirdo.” Like all this, over nothing.

I did that. I watched all 8 back to back. Again. When you see the whole thing, there is a rhythm and you appreciate the plot. The characters all come together in the motor city. I do love the song at the end when the credits roll (not in the finale). It’s rhythm and blues with a banjo. But all the music was perfectly selected.

Some spoilers
The detective you speak of who let Mansell go and then he killed what, another four people (what was the body count for this guy in this series?) And she’s framing an innocent guy. She’s putting up a front and doesn’t stand a chance.

Sandy?? Anyone. I thought the Albanians weren’t bad enough. Between the painting and that ring was probably around $40K. They could have cashed in wo killing anyone.

The draw on Mansell? I knew Mansell was pulling out his tape. It was quick. Not as good as the gunfight with Jody. Not really a gunfight but more whimper than bang.
