Michelle Williams was horrible
She should get a Razzie
shareTotally disagree. I thought she was excellent and worthy of an Oscar nomination.
shareI thought she was brilliant too, but only because she reminded me of some old school Jewish mothers I’ve met before. I think you have to have met some real life ladies like that to appreciate how she got the mannerisms, the facial expressions, the accent, the walk, the dramatic gestures. (IDK, maybe they need to watch The Marvelous Mrs Maisel to get a sense of Jewish mothers in the 50s and 60s.) Also Spielberg’s Mom was a concert pianist, so throw in the eccentric artist too. Michelle nailed it.
shareAgree. I think she was brilliant in this film.

She was okay, but does not deserve an Oscar nod.

shareMichelle Williams is always horrible. Its beyond me why Hollywood keeps trying to make her happen and casts her in big movies and then puts her to awards season for smaller movies. She is charisma free and always plays the same character.
She has zero star power. But she is always either supporting in bigger movie or co-lead in small artsy-fartsy movies that no one watches.
I don't get it either. Her acting is so constrained and she makes weird decisions and awkward faces.
shareI like Michelle Williams and I think she is always great.
However, I also did not like her here. She was completely over the top and just made me feel awkward constantly.
But I think that was the way the character was written and was supposed to be.
I am assuming that was the mother who was dancing in the headlights?
sharethat's why she's getting all the awards buzz... idiot.
shareI never liked her as an actress, but she was especially bad here. She was on a completely different page than everyone else.
shareI did not like her, but better when she went nutso
shareThe character was a mental case, but Williams did a good job.
