Theres alot of lazy convenient moments in this writing
Like Dexter delivering the gun to Matt's house and his friend randomly decides to spill his guts to Dexter and tell him all about Matt's cover up with the boat. Then out of the blue theres this public incinerator in town that he just happens to think of to get rid of Matt's body with.
In episode 5 alone theres tons, he goes to the vet for drugs to use on the drug dealer, but it just so happens the vet is busy with an animal and tells him to just grab what he needs, and oh there just so happens to be big rolls of plastic there as well.
Then after the drug dealer reveals the name of the guy who makes the drugs, Logan walks out and very loudly while Dexter is in the room says "Here is the last known address of Jasper Hodge" and conveniently just lays it out in the open for Dexter to glance at. I mean Dexter was just pulled off the drug dealer, would you really walk out there where he is and say "Yeah here's the address of the guy incase you wanna go assault him".
Then we have Dexter with a body naked wrapped in plastic, the cops show up, and somehow he has time to put Jasper's clothes back on, take his body into another room and get rid of all the plastic and out of sight before the cops even make it up stairs.
You got Batista who just so happens to be at the same hotel Dexter's girlfriend has gone to, and he just so happens to bring up Deb and Dexter and even feels the need to mention Dexter had a son and even feels the need to tell her his name.
Theres just a little too much convenient moments that just seem lazy and not at all cleverly written in a way to where its at all believable.
