Is this hated because it's ACTUALLY bad? Or because...
...rightwingers are offended that there are so many brown people on screen?
share...rightwingers are offended that there are so many brown people on screen?
shareFrom what I'm understanding, the show is genuinely unfunny and poorly written, but the conservatives are also pointing a lot of their criticisms on the brown gay people/
shareI WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT...IT'S LIKE ANY OTHER SECOND TIER CARTOON NETWORK ADULT SWIM TITLE IN TERMS OF CONTENT...I LAUGHED A COUPLE TIMES...I ENJOYED THE SHOW...BUT OVERALL IT WAS FAIRLY SHITTY IN THE WRITING DEPARTMENT...ALL OF THE CHARACTERS ARE SCHIZOPHRENIC ASSHOLES LEAVING YOU WITH NOTHING TO LATCH ONTO OR CARRY YOU THROUGH THE INSANITY...IT'S OK...IT'S MEDIOCRE...IT'S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT HAVE SEEN AFTER AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE AT 2 IN THE MORNING 15 YEARS AGO....MINUS THE MAD CRETIN OUTRAGE OVER SHADES OF BROWN AND GAY IT WOULD HAVE COME AND GONE AND BEEN FORGOTTEN.
shareI watched the first two episodes. The "woke" stuff that the right always whine about is barely worth noting. Black Shaggy is actually an awesome idea that should've been done decades ago. The political humor that pokes fun at white people, and other people as well, was also fine and not really an issue, other than it being generally unfunny in a basic unfunny way. The show itself is just pretty bad. It's made me officially sick of the meta "self-aware" humor where people sarcastically say really lazy dialog. I was also pretty uncomfortable with the high and bizarre amount of teenage sexualization of the show; the first scene of the first episode has visibly nude teenage girls showering together, with asses and side boobs clearly seen. The show makes Mindy Kaling seem like a pretty horrible and toxic person to be around, that she's a very bitter and hateful person who still hasn't gotten over not being popular in high school 30 years ago. If anything, the show is a very interesting Freudian look into Kaling's depressed psyche.
shareI AGREE WITH THIS.
shareWhy am I not surprised to find you on here Kowalski. This cesspit of a show speaks right up your alley.
shareYES...IT IS KIND OF TERRIBLE...I DID NOT FINISH THE SEASON...BUT I SUSPECT OUR REASONS FOR IT'S TERRIBLENESS ARE DIFFERENT.
shareSo what part did you like? White bashing, rainbow promotion, race changes or all of the above?
shareI DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THOSE THINGS...I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A SHOW THAT IS FLASH OVER SUBSTANCE THAT ULTIMATELY FEELS LIKE SOMETHING I ALREADY WATCHED ON ADULT SWIM 15 YEARS AGO.
shareDiversity.
shareThis one seems to be getting shit from, all sides, below from the pretty balanced ShoeonHead. I have seen enough reviews to know to avoid this like herpes.

It is supposed to be an origin story of Scooby Doo series, but each character is so radically changed from the original cartoon that it is a failure in every way.
The writing is so bad, that the race swapping is the most interesting part of the show as the rest of it appears to have no redeeming value at all.
This is based upon my viewing only the first episode.
Even lefties hate it. Even racist lefties, similar to yourself. Bad writing. Narcissistic obvious self-insert main character. Not funny. Constantly racist and cruel writing. Smug self-entitled dialog for the main character. And it abuses well-liked existing IP for no reason. Warner Brothers took one look at it and rescinded their rights to use Scooby Doo--in a SCOOBY DOO REMAKE.
It has a 1.3/10 on IMDB, the lowest score of any show by far. Annoying Orange got 1.9. Fred got 1.7. Toddlers & Tiaras got 1.7. "Fox & Friends," which you'd think would be buffeted by a bunch of "racist right-wingers," is 3.1.
I am enjoying YouTubers ripping it apart though, and I've recently learned Mindy Kaling deserves everything she's getting: she seems like an insufferable narcissist and has admitted on Conan to sexually assaulting a subordinate and then threatening her assistants when they told her it wasn't okay. She laughed about the sexual assault and intimidation, and thinks the ethnicity of the victim makes it acceptable.
Who even is the audience for this show?
shareProbably people who enjoy low-brow sexual humor. It might even be a "so bad it's good" kind of thing.
There is a small segment of views (or non-viewers) who are beating their heads against the wall while wailing in agony over the imagined lack of racial purity of the animated cast.
These social justice warriors are keen to prove to everyone that they care about the kind of social order that the Nazis tried to impose on Europe.
No it's bad. You can try taking a swipe at the right using your reasoning but Velma is hated because it's really bad.
shareFirst, "right winger" vs. "left winger" is a meaningleess portrayal IMO. Politacal affiliation is much more complex. The model that best captures it in my opinon is the Nolan Model
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolan_Chart
Every political litmus test based on Nolan criteria says I am a left leaning leaning libertarian, yet some people still want to peg me as a right wing idealogue just because I oppose democrats more than republicans. I hate authoritarians that want to put a boot to our neck, and in the modern world, those people are democrats. If you support the democrats in 2023, you are just a bootlicker to globalist plutocrats, while the rest of us are fighting for autonomy and personal freedom.
