Somebody tell Betty White her 15,000,000 Minutes of fame are up!

O.K. I get it. Betty White is Old and doing things that people 40 years younger are doing. I loved it when it was done in Grandma's Boy, Back To School, Going In Style, Stop or my Mom will Shoot, Cacoon, Cacoon 2, etc...

But I have seen her do the same Facebook joke three times this week. It really was cute on SNL, and the Snickers commercial. I am just pleading with her to perhaps think about moving over to let some of the other 100 year old actors have some work.

Um, Betty White's awesome. This is the high point of her career at 88 years old. Let her enjoy her rising fame again!

reply

Seriously. I'd like to see what you're doing with yourself when you're almost 90 years old.

Are you talking to me?

You're not a very happy person, are you?

This post is so upsetting. Betty White is awesome - it's not negotiable.

Betty White is a legend. You liked Gandma's Boy? Explains a lot!

She's so dull, c'mon rip her to shreds...

reply

Leave Betty White alone.

What a freakin' moron. Probably one of those idiots who drools with delight every time Adam Sandler and Jack Black release a movie. Get over yourself! Just because Betty White is no spring chicken doesn't mean she can't be relevant! She's hilarious! And it's biting, sarcastic wit. Not bodily function jokes. Ugh, what a dolt.

Guys, the OP is simply a troll. Best way to come on a forum and start the trolling? Pick the one thing that will piss people off the quickest. On this forum? Disrespect Betty White, and within a few minutes, the troll gets the audience they want.

Don't feed it, and it will go away.

I do not think that the OP is a troll, although on these boards anyone who goes against the grain is in danger of being called one these days. Clearly, there's a lot of love for Betty White here, but some - myself included - feel that her recent renaissance, fueled largely by formulaic age-based humor, is losing its charm. That does not mean that I do not respect her long career as an actress, but the prospect of her in an upcoming film doesn't make my heart beat faster.

reply

Agreed...on all levels. Although she makes every movie she's in hilarious, I think she's just being typecast anymore. But hey, chick makes dollars!

The thing is, she was a star in the 1950s and she's still a star today. From "Life with Elizabeth" to "The Golden Girls" and beyond.

She's up there with the late Lillian Gish for long lasting-careers!
