Got that right. And any other major character.

I really don't see how you replace Emma Watson as Hermione. Anyone other than Watson playing that character doesn't feels right, it doesn't computes.
shareI have the same feeling, let alone to have a race swap.

agreed
shareDon't be STUPID, the original cast are in their 30s!
shareI don't really care what race Hermione is, as long as the actor cast is in the right age range and does a good job.
shareIt doesn't matter who the cast is, it's going to be odd seeing different actors in the roles. I'm not saying they won't do a good job, it's just going to be strange.
shareIt will be an adjustment at first, but there have been lots of film and tv characters who have been played by different actors, so I don't think it is that big of a deal.
shareThe best person should get the role independent of race.
One thing I don't care for. Ever since the Cursed Child play put in an African American Hermione in the premiere performance, there seems to to be a push to insure that all future castings must be. There's even a petition out there claiming that it would be racist to cast anyone but an African American actress. That is wrong to accuse.
For the record, live plays have high cast turnovers, so it would not be unusual or even unexpected to see a race switch. Producers hire whoever is available at the time based on the auditions. There's nothing wrong with that.

Not if you’re adopting a source material where the person is clearly described.
Ironic thing is Rowling herself says she never had a problem with the play since she never set Hermione's race in the books. But there are several references to her pale skin.
shareIs Rowling even involved in this?
If not then who the hell even cares who plays Hermionig?
This whole thing is yet another Trojan horse for woke propaganda. Step over it.
