Can't believe how good this was

It's a Jane Austen story with zombies in it. Literally. You'd say DUH. Check it out. The humor comes from contrast. Not one liners, not gore. Contrast between the Austen's story (taken REALLY seriously) and the zombie issue (which by the way is marvelously integrated). Give it a shot. It's a beautiful love story. With zombies.

I have to agree with you.

I had low expectations as most zombie films are horribly done and I find films based on literary classics can often be quite boring.

This was kind of fun and well done. I enjoyed it.

I'm not into mashups nor into romantic movies, watched it more "by accident". But... what a very pleasant surprise. Way underrated movie IMHO.

I really liked this. It is exactly what I was wanting from the PPZ book. Play it straight because it is much funnier that way. The PPZ book was really heavy handed literary vandalism (still sort of amusing for the audacity I suppose)

I hear the american trailers were different from the british ones, emphasising the zombie horror over the jane austin. I wonder if that was the problem: Maybe pulled in too many 13 year old boys who would never willingly read or watch Pride and Prejudice? Maybe it should have been aimed more directly at the Twilight movie demographic, who are a bit older now?

Only two criticisms:
(1) I felt like they studied the Keira Knightly version a bit too closely. I really like that movie but I found it distracting when I was suddenly reminded of specific shots.
(2) I would have preferred Lady Catherine to not have redeemed herself so suddenly. I think the original shallowness of the upper class would have been particularly funny in the context of a zombie apocalypse.

..oh, also I was expecting something to happen with her daughter. I might have missed that if it did.
