The movie sucked and it's the audiences' fault?

You seemed confused which would explain why you would pay money and waste 81 minutes on pee-pee and poo-poo jokes.

Also, I took the liberty to correct your subject heading.

No, no...no need to thank me. Just promise you'll avoid movies like this in the future.

@GooGooTheDinosaur: I guess you didn't understand correctly. I wasn't discussing the overall greatness of the movie. If you hated it, it's your right. I was just thinking that even in my younger days when I attended movies like Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans there was at least someone laughing, which wasn't the case this time.

It's in no way the audience's fault if they hated the movie. I was just expecting the audience to react a bit more positively to the movie. I wanted to see if the audience was the same everywhere else.

I was not going to thank you and I do not need to promise anything to you. But thanks for contributing constructively to our discussion.

Well the audience at my theater was laughing pretty hard, comedy is subjective, so there's bound to be a few theaters that don't find certain films funny.

Let me make it clear to the OP and the kids defending it.

THIS MOVIE IS A SAD, UNFUNNY, DISAPPOINTMENT.

It follows a tired formula, there are never any standout moments, and it is as bland as can be.

The reason the audience sat there without laughing is the same reason I sat here without laughing. BECAUSE IT SUCKED.

Let me quote another reviewer, as I'm done talking about this bomb.

"The Sitter is a deflated comedy robbed of all laughs, jokes, and originality. It knows formula well, but doesn't know where to go from there. It also knows how to pick a lovable lead actor who is consistently funny in everything he does.

@Miriclemaker22: True...I'm not very old either :P(I'm 15 years old, going to be 16 soon). But when I was 12 or 11 years old for example, believe it or not, I was part of the target audience for these ''movies'' and I did attend a few of them. I just like to say my younger days because since then, my taste in movies has changed greatly. I watch a lot of Hollywood mainstream movies, but I have bought and watched many of the movies from the Top 250 list and other foreign films (although I do like a goof off comedy, such as the sitter, for example, once in a while).

If you want good goofy comedy, then watch Mel Brooks. Specifically, watch Young Frankenstein. I'm sure you've seen Spaceballs since it's a Star Wars spoof. Those are great films someone as young as you should get.

Airplane and Naked Gun are no brainers if you haven't seen those.

And give the Pink Panther movies a look as well. With Peter Sellers, not the Steve Martin remakes.

Thankyou for clearing that up with the original poster. The whole movie is disgusting right from the first filthy scene. The original poster must be very easily entertained and a teenaged boy to enjoy toilet humour and "jokes" about a guy giving BJs. I bet they also believe parents tell their kids that their babysitter didn't turn up because she has a urinary tract infection (any excuse for gross "humour" and eluding to the fact that women have genitals and breasts).

I saw this movie last Saturday, about 10 people in the theater. We all laughed at the same spots pretty much. One guy laughed really loud a couple of times, like way too hard. I thought it was a very good movie, held my interest the whole time. Some movies you go to and are just waiting for them to end, like just about any Will Ferrell movie besides Step Brothers.

Perhaps they were not easily amused. I rarely laugh loud enough to be heard across a theater, even if there is a funny part. Most comedies will give me a 'bemused' smile, but thats about it, and Im fine with it. Its a blue moon rare event when I see something that cracks me up, you know, the kind of thing where five minutes later you start laughing about it again. Yah, that stuff.

While you are entitled to your opinion, I really don't think Avatar, The Hangover, and Inception are movies that should be used as examples of crap films. Having said that, I did enjoy The Sitter, but no where near as much as the films you listed. Also, humor is subjective. If everyone had the same sense of humor, the world would be a pretty damn boring place.

OP and his thread are hilarious. He seems to have some kind of deep connection with movies. And then clearly states that he's just 15 and really isn't supposed to be watching most of the movies he's seen including this one. We're going to have to give him time to grow. Literally and figuratively.

And about the audience in your theater. They sound like my kind of people. They are the ones who grew up with the original movie Adventure in Babysitting and thought this one might be some kind of homage but it sorely wasn't.

The only good comedy now comes from serious movies where they incorporate humor here and there like Iron Man, X-Men, Avatar, Titanic, Good Will Hunting, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Mission Impossible, Harry Potter, Lord of the Ring, Fast and Furious, Prince of Persia, Tron, Clash of Titans and others. Real comedy is dead.

Just because I'm 16 doesn't make me less mature than any other film fanatic. I love movies. I have a passion for films by Scorsese, Fincher, Tarantino, Kubrick, Coppolla, Nolan, Leone, Spielberg, Ritchie, and more. I've seen more movies than any person my age and seen more foreign movies than many people do in their entire lives.

I live in a country where I am legally allowed to see most of these movies...but whatever.

Real Comedy is dead? are you serious? Good comedies come out every year, and you manage to say that the only good comedy nowadays comes mainly from ''serious'' movies (which most of them happen to be blockbusters)?

A few good comedies that come to mind are (500) Days of Summer, Crazy, Stupid, Love, Horrible Bosses, 21 Jump Street...and those are only a few.

And seriously...Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is supposed to be a serious film? Tron, Clash of the Titans and Avatar are supposed to have funny bits?

I know it wasn't a great comedy...But I see many comedies in theaters, and trust me, it was the first time I heard an audience that silent during a comedy...and I've seen some pretty awful ones.

I didn't think the Sitter was awful, it just wasn't very good.
