Any idea why none of the creatures tried to escape when the two of them went into the gorge? I mean, wouldn't they have sensed them down there, and at least some of them realized that would be a great time to get out?
Also, the CGI was really good, which is funny because I just saw a trailer for Brave New World and some of the CGI in that trailer were horrible and looked incredibly like CGI instead of what was in this movie and I imagine the cost of The Gorge was nothing compared to the cost of BNW.
1. Do we know that? They definitely have automatic guns and mines which could clear the space also for some time.
2. Why the monster wanted to leave the gorge anyway? If it had been the entry to hell, invasions would make sense, but all the dead ones are mutated soldiers, so what are they interested in outside?
3. Still not sure if they were still intelligent or not.
2) If I'm not mistaken, the girl said that we are just food for them.
3) Remember when the girl's pack was taken from the entrance to the bunker? Miles said the monsters did it on purpose, which implies they have something similar to intelligence or it was just a muscle memory from the military training kicking in, just like the soldiers riding those horses.
Oddly, the more one thinks about this flick, the more questions arise...
First, back to the purpose of the expendable people to be there - I feel it was both to keep the creatures in and people out and to hide what was going on. And I think the creatures wanted out to reproduce and spread and to probably eat. And that makes me wonder why none tried to escape all the time the two were down in the bowels of hell.
Next, if there was an East/West agreement, then where were those representing the East and why weren't they also responding? Or, did the West keep the true nature of what was going on from the East? Because why would both the East and West mutually agree to what was going on in the pursuit of super soldiers? That seems counterproductive.
I'm not trying to critique this thing to death and also, some of this may have been addressed and I missed it. Just curious. It is a good escapist type flick.
No, I meant their own Eastern Sigourney Weaver-type CEO or a like-minded representative - and this goes back to the biggest question - why would the West and East enter into an agreement in the same race to create the best super-soldier.
That is unless the recruitment of such people was done without the knowledge of the East.
Unless, Darklake was responsible for both the west AND the east towers. Which is the question that I had. Drasa’s father was dying and he was going to kill himself or so he said, so I understand her wanting to be there for a year.
But again was Darklake the organization that placed both parties there? Levi and her? Depends on what pull they had. After all what was going on originally was a consortium of American, Russian, English alliances so it’s not out of the question they ran the whole show.
