When Lars Ulrich came on screen...

...the whole cinema seemed to groan. Anyone know why? Is he renowned for being a bit of a gasbag gobsh*te or something?

reply

He's just plain annoying. Loud, all the napster stuff, and the fact that he's a crap drummer

Yeah I would agree. Nothing against Lars Personally but he sounds like a pretentious douchebag every time he speaks.

I get it up, I get it up in the dark, I make her feel I'm not a holy man

Lars' character took a big hit with the Napster thing and some people haven't forgiven him.
Other than that he is a cool dude and gives great interviews.

IMO, it has nothing to do with their albums and also little to do with Lars personally. I think it's the fact that Metallica completely sold out and were so comfortable being the 'most popular metal band' that they lost their passion for music. I'm almost positive I love more Metallica songs than Maiden songs, but Maiden has been the one constant in metal over the decades. They've retained their enthusiasm for music -- especially Bruce, good god he's energetic. Also, my one and only time seeing Maiden in '08 is easily in my top 5 concerts ever attended (been to at least 70 shows).
