Since when is Beau pronounced 'Bo'?
I thought it was Beau as in beau-ti-ful. Bo? Pfft.

Since at least the 1720s - it was commonly used as a term for a sweetheart or lover, and comes from the French word for handsome. The French don't pronounce it like "bow" but they don't pronounce it like "beau"-tiful either, bow is an entirely English pronunciation across the board.

Never met someone called Beau and I've never heard it pronounced until this film, believe it or not. I've seen it in writing such as "xyz was seen with her beau" and that's it. Maybe all the americans know it from a young age but where I'm from no one uses the word.
My fellow MovieChatters can feel free to act superior for knowing how Beau is pronounced. 🧠

My name in real life is Beau. Ever since I was a kid, and all the way up to this day, there’s been a small percentage of people I come across that act all weird and don’t understand that “Beau” is pronounced “Bo”. And I mean, a SMALL percentage of people. So I assure you that you are in the minority on this.
