What would the movie Batman v Superman have been like if Christian Bale continued his role as Batman?

Sometime last year I had read about how Christian Bale had been offered a huge amount of money to reprise his role as Batman in the then upcoming Batman v Superman movie. That had me thinking a lot about the movie and I have been wanting to talk about it ever since. I certainly understand Nolan's interpretation of Batman wouldn't fit in the DCEU as it is now but the screenwriters could certainly make it work. Would Batman v Superman have been a better movie? I personally thought it was enjoyable enough but still, a huge letdown for me. One of the common complaints I have heard is that "the movie was overly grim", "the character development for Batman was paper thin", "the grim nature of the movie wasn't earned". So I would love to hear what you guys have to say about this?

Well, if they just replace Batfleck with Baleman with no change to the structure of the movie I think it would still be a bad movie.

I mean, the Batfleck himself was touted as the best Batman by many. So it's not about him. Just changing him wont repair anything but may as well drag the great reputation of Nolan's Batman trilogy down.

Agreed. Changing the actors wouldn't have done any good. The core of the movie would still be the same.

Truth! There wasn't anything really wrong with Affleck's performance, the problem was with the writing, directing, editing, special effects, etc.

I hate that movie with the burning heat of ten thousand suns, but I don't blame the actors for it being so awful. Well, maybe Cavill.

He made the best decision by staying away from it. Though I’m not overly fond of his Batman portrayal (he was at his best in Batman Begins, if you ask me) , I think it would’ve been an insult to his interpretation of the character and the Nolan films had he taken the role in BVS. Before Affleck was cast, it was already known what kind of direction BVS would be taking, so I know for a fact the movie wouldn’t have turned out any better had Bale returned.

Affleck was widely considered one of BVS’s stronger aspects, but honestly, did he elevate the movie? I say no. BVS was a complete mess, and its grim tone was the least of its problems. The Dark Knight Rises was a worthy (albeit flawed) swan song to Bale as Batman.

Affleck was a fine Batman. I don’t think Bale would have improved BvS in a meaningful way.
