shareThis trilogy is truly my first exposure to a Swedish film and I totally fell for the characters!!! It felt authentic.
I saw the "american"(?) version first and didn't think much of it... it was a little too "Hollywood". I think that's what bugs me about Hollywood... taking over originals and remaking them with "prettier" people. A lot of Japanese horror films being remade by American film makers. I mean how many more Batmans, Spider-Man's and Supermans do we really need???!!!
I'm glad I saw the original GWTDT after the remake. I loved the actors!!! LOVED the trilogy!!! This series and reading books one and two make me want to take up smoking, try snus, eat open face sandwiches, visit a 7 Eleven in Sweden just to try a friggin Billy's Pan Pizza!!!!!
Swedish version all the way!!!!
... it's a beetroot!
Have you ever looked at the by-lines in a newspaper?
I think the Swedish version was quite accurate.
Probably the biggest problem the American version had going against it was James Bond was pretending to be a booze chugging, chain smoking, donut munching reporter.
After reading through this thread I think it comes down to what people are used to seeing.
Many of the people here that don't mind Mikael Nyquist (including myself) are swedish and have seen him in a lot of swedish films, he is one of our greatest actors and I for one love his performance in these movies (and have always found him to be a very attractive man), even though these aren't my favorite movies with him in the lead.
And for the same reason we are very used to see Lena Endre. Personally I think she looks absolutley gorgeous for her age.
I do however think that physically Mara was the better Lisbeth, even though I love Noomi since she is the better Lisbeth over all, she conveys so much with her eyes, and her body language that Mara just can't.
I cant wait for the american versionYou gotta feel for the young and the restless. share
