I hope you're talking about the part where Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin are singing together. Otherwise, I hope I miss it !
Haha, I loved it. Rock 'n' roll.
"It's SHOWTIME!" ~ Beetlejuice
What? Why? That was probably the best thing about it, and I sat and hoped for Russel Brand and Baldwin to have more screentime
shareYUCK!!!! Two mediocre actors had MORE than enough screen time! Didn't need that dam scene AT all!

I have no problem with movies portraying gay/lesbian love, but I think they did go a bit overboard on this one. It just seemed so cheesy that I wanted crackers. My husband thought it was funny, but its the roll your eyes and blow kinda funny. I mean Russell Brand is hilarious on his own, Alec Baldwin cant hold a tune real well but the part was just overly done.
I never liked Russell when he first started on the movie scene, and he has kinda grew on me ever since. This part basically made him showcase his craziness a bit more and I loved that fact. I think him spinning on Alec's hips was just a little much LOL. The movie is really well done, I love 80s music and it was the era that I grew up in. I would love to see this done on stage, as with most musicals that I dearly love.
Not saying that they should have left the scene out altogether, but it could have been reworked a bit differently to not come off so cheesy.
I didn´t like that scene either, I really felt that Baldwin was doing it because he had not choice, the other guy started acting way to gay after that and was over the top during that song (I think he was eager for kissing Baldwin)...
Maybe with other actors/direction the scene could have worked/ was funny, but it felt rushed, without chemistry and, honestly, out of nowhere (even if it as part of the original).
I thought this was one of the worst directing jobs I've ever seen. The music didn't seem in sync with their lips, there was an uneven flow, and he didn't use Baldwin enough. The relationships were strung together, the casting was off, and he could have done so much more visually. Baldwin didn't seem into it at all, and the two leads were atrocious. I did think Giamatti and Cruise were awesome, but I think that's because they really wanted to do something with their roles, and not because of the director's influence.
shareI don’t why you hated it so much, it was hilarious. Russell Brand is a silly git as it is, but throw him in a scene like that with Alec Baldwin of all people, and bam! their Air Supply duet was pure hilarity.
It was actually an REO Speedwagon song, not Air Supply but I agree it's a GREAT scene!

Hmm, strange, I could have sworn they sang All out of Love. I just checked and you’re right, it was Can’t Fight this Feeling Anymore. Maybe my memory was influenced by all those SNL skits spoofing Air Supply being gay.
I though Brand and Baldwin were brilliant and the gay part worked better than the other couplings.
