You will hate this movie if you don't understand that this is a musical based on a Broadway play. So if you don't like people randomly breaking out into song, skip this movie.

You will hate this movie if you don't like big '80s hair bands and pop rock songs of that era.

You will hate this movie if you are not expecting a very silly, ridiculous, over the top spectacle.

If you hate Glee, this movie is not for you.

I had very low expectations before watching this movie but was pleasantly surprised. Lots of unexpected funny moments, great songs, and even though I'm not a Tom Cruise fan, I have to say he nailed his performance as the over-sexed rock god Stacee Jaxx. Rock of Ages is silly escapist entertainment, but definitely not for everyone.

Yep. I had no idea this was a musical. Being a teen throughout most of the 80s, I just thought this was going to be a movie about the 80s music scene, and so I was looking forward to seeing it. I had to shut it off after only 15 minutes once I realized what it actually was.

I absolutely loved it and found it to be very funny and inspiring.

I agree with everything but the Glee comment. I hate Glee. But I kinda liked Rock of Ages. Silly, ridiculous, over the top in a good entertaining way.

When I saw this movie, I had no idea it was based off of a Broadway play... and I loved it. I do love '80s music.

Amazing musical... and I generally hate musicals.
