Her singing just stinks. I cannot for the life of me figure out why in the world they thought her voice singing rock was a good thing. I thought I was listening to a chipmunk. Even listening to the music as the credits were going by and then here she starts singing Hurricane....I thought I was going to throw up. OMG it literally ruined the movie. And I thought I recognized her and it was from "Dancing with the Stars", she is Derek Hough sister and was on there for a short while. She was also on the new version of Footloose. to which to me was a big mistake. Maybe she needs to stay with dancing and not singing or even acting.Someone must have some crush on her because she seems to be pushed into this acting career. Bad idea, And no one should ever allow her to sing again.

THANK YOU. Her singing ruined the movie for me. Her voice is too thin to do justice to rock songs. Her voice is just not suited to that genre of music.

her voice was like a childs, the real problem were the 2 leads, had this movie had stronger leads it might not have been so bad.

Julianne is certainly a better dancer than a singer. But I have no complaints about her being in the movie. It could be worse, you know.... They could have cast someone like Miley Cyrus.

OK, the girl can sing.
maybe she was mis-cast in this movie but she does have talent.
As others have said, time, and time again, don't hate the playa' hate the game, she has chops.

I agree with most of what everyone else has said. I could not stand her singing. It made me cringe. Probably better than her acting though. After this, if I have seen her in a movie, I have not watched it.

Barber, you are so right. She has this froggy, pinched sound to her vocals, like a baby singing (I call it a "diaper voice"). Now I was impressed by Cruise and a number of other surprise performances, but in general, this movie stinks. And Hough is one reason - besides her immature sounding voice, she plays her role too sophomoric and 'cutesie', which was overdone back in the 80's on 'Grease' by Olivia Newton John (and she CAN sing - rather well!). It was so predictable, (the scenes with her in them).

Now I am a musician, and I lived in LA from 1985 - 1995, so I was living there when this happened (in an alternate universe..); I actually played "The Whisky (A Go - Go)', and the film did capture some of this silliness, but truth be told the music business deserves to die. Movies like "Rock of Ages" are contrived, media marketing machine mush; all the false modesty, bravado, power-chord sentiment, and teenage hormonal/sexual confusion just turned me off. I paid $5 for the DVD - anybody want it?

She should have just been stark naked throughout the whole movie

Her voice was ridiculously bad. Worst part of the movie by far. It was like a hot chipmunk with bad acting. Her connections were the only thing that got her the part.
