After seeing the trailer which encapsulates all mayor action sequences, I believe this has got the potential of being the worst picture of the year. The dialogue looks like it has been written by a 9-year old, the cgi looks awful and Keanu should start doing movies with Nicolas Cage. I mean bad-acting wise, those two are just unbeatable. And how the hell did they manage to piss away 175 million dollars on this? At least the director should feel like the luckiest man on the planet, being somebody with no feature film experience getting a budget like that. Bombs away !

Say what? 175m?! I don't even think The Raid or 13 Assassins combined cost that flipping much.

Just seen trailer two on the homepage and at best, it could be an enjoyable rental, at worst, The Last Airbender

Coming from Asia I think this film is waaaayyy too expensive... Might fall under the weight of its expectations.

Trailer looks like 300 + The Last Airbender set in Japan context.

I tend to agree. I, also, saw the trailer IE the best the film has to offer, and in 3D. There's only so much kung fu I can see Reeves do before I start to get gas. Cage I can't even take seriously the only film he did was playing the drunk in Leaving Las Vegas and Elisabeth Shue helped him along. These are NOT leading met, they're ensemble players and might be big outside of the US but here they really are not my cup of tea. I'd take the kids to see the 3D for the martial arts etc but I'd much rather piss away $60 on the second Hobbit film. Also that director should thank his lucky stars..where does an unknown director get the helm of a monster budget film like Ronin. Balls.

Agreed, it's actually embarrassing. I mean, why bother changing every single fundamental aspect of the original and give it the same name? It wouldn't be quite as offensive had they done that...and if KR's as good of an actor, whom half of the people on here think he is, then the title wouldn't have changed a thing in regards to its popularity, real or imagined.

Frankly, for anything other than posing, he's a horrible actor & I think Ted "Theodore" Logan was the role written just for him...

I got through the first trailer and my initial reaction - what a load of cr*p.

The second trailer I couldn't get through - this is a disaster through and through.

The original historical narrative would have been a great movie to bring to Western audiences.

It is coming out too late for worst movie of 2013, but it might make it as worst movie of 2014. I laughed because so much of that stuff looked Chinese yet it is set in Japan. It has all the plot and acting quality of a 70s Kung Fu movie. Pure eye candy for the ignorant and tasteless

I saw the movie today. It was awesome. I had low expectations based on the trailer but it turned out to be a really fun, well made action movie.

The trailer looked great until they went all cartoon and silly. That right there is why this this will bomb. They shot themselves right in the foot with the first trailer.

Will this movie be worse than Grown Ups 2 or Movie 43 or Man of Steel?

Haven't seen it yet. Did see the original (1941) and loved it (in Japanese). I just wanted to say, this movie would have to be really, really bad to be the worst movie of 2013 - because The Hobbit sequel has pretty much sewn up that title.

yes, the hobbit sequel with a 75% fresh rating on rotten tomatoes is clearly the worst movie of the year.

i mean, it's not a great movie, but don't be ridiculous. there are far worse movies that have come out this year.
