Am I the only one bothered by the orphanage woman?
The subject name says all. Is there anyone else who is bothered by the sour orphanage owner in the movie and how mean she is to the girls?

she reminded me of Dolores Umbridge. Personality, looks and the way she dresses.
shareYep, she's exactly what Umbridge would have been without the cat obsession and with a Georgia accent instead of an English one. I certainly wanted to smack her just like Umbridge.

Oh good, someone else who was reminded of Umbridge!! Her outfit, her appearance, the sitting in front of so many frames on the wall, her nasty personality poorly disguised by a sickly sweet voice and facade...yeah, definitely.
I also thought of "Annie," which of course was one of the direct references made in the film. Hunh. Personally I think I'd prefer Miss Hannigan.

Yeah, She kinda, bothers me a little. The only thing I can say good about her is that she's funny. Especially when she hits Gru with the Spanish dictionary. But I think she's too mean to the girls. She's like pretending that they're poor and she wants a million dollars instead of a hundred. What a selfish diva.-_-

Well, her character is very flat, and very predictable, so she doesn't raise any of my eyebrows.

Yeah me too, although yeah now that everyone mentioned it she does remind me of Umbridge with an American accent. Also she's no Madam Medusa from The Rescuers so she's not that awful like everyone think she is.
shareShe only annoyed me because I could hear so clearly Kristen Wiig doing that country accent of hers. It was distracting, and I didn't think it worked very well for the character.

I had this woman for an English teacher, who was from Al..the accent was slightly different and her hair was a little blonder. Same hair don't, same clothes same kind of underhanded attitude. But god when she was havin a tipple she was funny...
